Miley Cyrus achieves chart double with No.1 album ‘Bangerz’

Miley Cyrus has achieved a chart double by landing this week’s number one album with Bangerz.

The singer scores her first UK number one album, in the same week as ‘Wrecking Ball’ enters at the top spot in the singles chart.

Chase & Status settle for the number two position with their third album Brand New Machine.

Arctic Monkeys climb back up one place to three with former number one album AM, swapping places with Mechanical Bull by Kings of Leon.

Haim slip four from last week’s top spot to five with Days Are Gone.

Lucy Spraggan’s debut major label studio album Join the Club enters at seven. Panic! at the Disco’s Too Weird To Live Too Rare To Die is new at 10.

Prefab Sprout’s latest release Crimson/Red lands at 15, followed by Korn’s The Paradigm Shift at 16.

Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip score a new entry at 22 with Repent Replenish Repeat. The Fratellis enter at 26 with We Need Medicine.

Anna Calvi’s latest release One Breath is new 32, followed by The Feeling’s Boy Cried Wolf at 33.

Haim beat Justin Timberlake to No.1 with debut album

Haim have scored a debut number one album with Days Are Gone.

The US trio were trailing Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2 in the midweek chart, but narrowly beat the singer by 2,100 copies in the final tally.

Timberlake’s first 20/20 Experience instalment topped the chart back in March, and sits at 33 this week. A packaged version of both albums is new at 27.

Kings of Leon slip two to three with last week’s topper Mechanical Bull. Arctic Monkeys stick at four with AM, while Drake drops three to five with Nothing Was the Same.

Alter Bridge achieve their highest UK placing to date at six with Fortress. Dizzee Rascal scores his fourth consecutive UK top 10 album at 10 with The Fifth.

Sub Focus lands at 11 with his second album Torus. Moby’s latest effort Innocents is new at 35.

Metallica’s soundtrack to Through the Never sneaks in at 36, followed by Status Quo’s The Frantic Four Reunion 2013 at 37 and Kids In Glass Houses’ Peace at 39.

Kings of Leon score fourth UK No.1 album

Kings of Leon have achieved their fourth UK number one album with Mechanical Bull.

The US band’s latest LP sold over 71,000 copies this week to come out on top in a week full of new releases.

Drake sold 61,000 copies of Nothing Was the Same to land at two, making it the fastest-selling hip-hop album of 2013.

Jessie J enters at three with her second studio album Alive, while Arctic Monkeys slip three to four with AM after two weeks at the top.

Jason Derulo follows his number one single ‘Talk Dirty’ by landing at five with his third album Tattoos.

Birdy achieves a new entry at eight with her second album Fire Within, while Chvrches enter at nine with The Bones of What You Believe.

Sting’s first full solo album in over a decade The Last Ship is a new entry at 14, followed by Dream Theater’s self-titled effort at 15.

Mazzy Star’s Seasons of Your Day is new at 24, while the 20th anniversary of Nirvana’s In Utero lands at 28. New Model Army enter at 34 with Between Dog and Wolf.

Arctic Monkeys keep UK No.1 album

Arctic Monkeys have kept hold of the UK album chart number one with AM.

The band held off stiff competition to remain at the top spot for a second week with their fifth chart-topper.

Avicii lands at two with his debut release True, followed by Sir Elton John with his 31st album The Diving Board.

Manic Street Preachers enter at four with their latest effort Rewind the Film, while London Grammar round off the top five with new LP If You Wait.

Katie Melua scores her sixth UK Top 10 album at six with Ketevan. Jack Johnson follows with his fourth at seven with From Here to Now to You.

King’s Lynn band Deaf Havana enter at nine with their third album Old Souls, while The Temperance Movement are new at 12 with their self-titled LP.

Placebo achieve their eighth Top 40 album at 13 with Loud Like Love. Elvis Costello and The Roots’ team-up Wise Up Ghost is new at 28.

Diana Vickers achieves a new entry at 37 with Music To Make Boys Cry.

The 1975 score debut UK number one album

The 1975 have scored a number one album with their debut release.

The Manchester band’s self-titled LP lands straight at the top of the pile, knocking Avenged Sevenfold’s Hail to the King down to eight.

Nine Inch Nails were outsold by more than two-and-a-half copies to one, with Hesitation Marks becoming Trent Reznor’s highest-charting album in the UK at two.

Rizzle Kicks enter at three with their second album The Roaring 20s, followed by Richard and Adam’s The Impossible Dream and Ellie Goulding’s Halcyon.

Ariana Grande scores her debut UK album placing at seven with Yours Truly.

Babyshambles achieve their second UK Top 10 album at ten with Sequel to the Prequel. Unsigned London duo Krept and Konan land at 19 with Young Kingz.

Luciano Pavarotti’s 50 Greatest Tracks is new at 20. John Legend enters at 28 with Love in the Future, followed at 29 by UB40 with Getting Over the Storm.

Avenged Sevenfold score first UK No.1 album

Avenged Sevenfold have scored their first UK number one album with Hail to the King.

The US heavy metal band have knocked Britain’s Got Talent duo Richard and Adam off the top spot after a four week run with their debut The Impossible Dream.

Alexander Milas, editor-in-chief of British music magazine Metal Hammer, said: “This is a tremendous achievement, and it’s been a long time coming.

“We’ve watched Avenged Sevenfold’s dogged ascent for years, and their tireless efforts have created the kind of fan base that money and clever marketing just can’t buy.”

He added: “This isn’t just a hugely well-deserved triumph for the band though; in an age of market-driven A&R, it’s proof positive that rock and metal is here to stay. A long-ignored segment of the record-buying public has spoken. Avenged Sevenfold’s victory is a victory for us all.”

Naughty Boy’s debut LP Hotel Cabana enters the chart at two, with Ellie Goulding’s Halcyon Days re-release at number three.

Richard and Adam fall three places to four after their album set a 2013 chart record last week. They surpassed Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience for the number of weeks at number one.

Bob Dylan’s reflective release Another Self Portrait – 1969-1971 enters at number five.

Other new entries on this week’s album chart are Franz Ferdinand’s Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action at six and Newton Faulkner’s Studio Zoo at ten.

Richard and Adam retain No.1 album

Richard and Adam have set a new chart record for 2013 after retaining their spot at the top of the UK albums chart for a fourth week in a row.

The Impossible Dream has overtaken Justin Timberlake’s third studio album The 20/20 Experience to spend the most consecutive weeks at number one this year.

The album also shares the record for total weeks at the top spot in 2013 with the soundtrack to Les Misérables, which spent two sets of two weeks at number one in January and February.

The Britain’s Got Talent finalists held off stiff competition from Rudimental’s album Home which missed out on the top spot by just over 2,000 copies.

Travis enter at number three with their first offering for five years Where You Stand, while John Mayer’s Paradise Valley debuts at four.

Graffiti on the Train by Stereophonics jumps a huge 16 places to claim the number five spot.

Tired Pony enter the chart at 14 with The Ghost of the Mountain, while Earl Sweatshirt’s first solo album Doris debuts at 23.

Richard and Adam have achieved a third week at the top of the UK albums chart.

The Impossible Dream sold enough copies to stick at the top spot, holding off the challenge from former number one Home by Rudimental. Imagine Dragons stay at three with Night Visions.

White Lies achieve this week’s highest new entry, landing at four with their third album Big TV. Passenger slips one spot to five with All the Little Lights.

Kodaline leap 30 places to ten with their debut album In a Perfect World. Ed Sheeran is up 13 spots to 34 with longrunner +.

Glen Campbell scores his eighth UK Top 40 album at 35 with his latest collection See You There.

Ellie Goulding is up seven places to 19, following her first number one single this week with ‘Burn’.

Richard and Adam have kept hold of the UK number one album this week.

The Britain’s Got Talent finalists stay at the top for a second week with their debut LP The Impossible Dream.

The Civil Wars settle for the number two spot with their self-titled album, having been outsold by 15,000 copies. It is the duo’s highest-charting record to date, after their previous LP reached number 13.

Imagine Dragons leap seven spots to three with Night Visions. Passenger slips one to four with All the Little Lights, while Jahmene Douglas falls three to complete the top five with Love Never Fails.

Example lands at 11 with his ‘Best Of’ collection #Hits. Birmingham band Swim Deep enter at 20 with their debut Where the Heaven Are We.

Metal band Asking Alexandria achieve the highest-charting album so far at 28 with From Death to Destiny.

Richard and Adam achieve debut No.1 album with ‘The Impossible Dream’

Richard and Adam have achieved a debut number one album with The Impossible Dream.

The Britain’s Got Talent finalists land straight at the top of the UK chart, knocking X Factor runner-up Jahmene Douglas down to two with Love Never Fails.

“We can’t believe we’re number one,” Richard Johnson told The Official Charts Company. “It’s a dream come true to have an album out, but to be in the position to go home and tell Nan and Mum and Dad we’re actually number one is incredible!”

“It’s amazing!” added Adam. “You’ve made us happy, and you’ve made our nan extremely happy, so thank you to each and everyone of you who’s bought the album!”

Passenger rises a place to three with All the Little Lights, followed by Jay Z’s Magna Carta… Holy Grail at four. Rod Stewart stays at five with Time.

Scouting For Girls enter at eight with their Greatest Hits collection.

AlunaGeorge land at 11 with their debut studio album Body Music. Backstreet Boys follow at 16 with their ninth UK Top 40 album A World Like This.

American band Five Finger Death Punch score their biggest UK placing to date with The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 1 at 21.

Fleetwood Mac climb back 55 places to 29 with their classic LP Rumours.
