There’s no shifting Ariana Grande from the top of the Official Singles Chart, as thank u, next claims a third week at Number 1.

thank u, next is Ariana’s first ever UK chart-topper all on her lonesome and her longest running – previous chart-toppers , Problem ft. Iggy Azalea and Bang Bang with Jessie J & Nicki Minaj each managed a week at Number 1. The song finishes the week 24,000 combined sales ahead of nearest rival Little Mix’s Woman Like Me, which moves back up to its previous peak of Number 2.

Former Number 1 Shallow, by Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper, drops a place to Number 3, while Jess Glynne rises three spaces to 4 with Thursday, claiming her ninth UK Top 5 single. Jess is now level with Rita Ora for number of Top 5s by a British female soloist, and Rita is right behind her at 5 with Let You Love Me.

New entries and high climbers

Pink shoots up 25 spots to Number 11 with A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman: Reimagined, and is this week’s most downloaded track, while Polaroid by Jonas Blue, Liam Payne and Lennon Stella takes one step forward to Number 12.

Ava Max’s Sweet But Psycho zooms 19 places to Number 13, her first ever UK Top 20, while another high-flyer from The Greatest Showman: Reimagined, Rewrite The Stars, awards James Arthur & Anne-Marie this week’s highest new entry at 16.

Ellie Goulding and Diplo close in on the Top 20, rising nine slots to 21 with Close To Me ft. Swae Lee, while Little Mix’s newest release Strip ft. Sharaya J debuts at Number 25 – their 21^st UK Top 40 hit.

Elsewhere in the chart, Cadet & Deno Driz reach a new peak with Advice (30); Clean Bandit, Marina & Luis Fonsi’s Baby, crawls six places to a new best (32); and Hold My Girl by George Ezra enters the Top 40 for the first time (33).

Following his performance on The X Factor last weekend, Tom Walker ascends 21 rungs to return to the Top 40 with Leave A Light On at 36; Sheck Wes impacts at Number 37 with Mo Bamba; Nafe Smallz, M Huncho & Gunna debut at Number 38 with Broken Homes; and finally, Panic! At The Disco’s version of The Greatest Show from – yes, you’ve guessed it – The Greatest Showman: Reimagined, takes a seat at Number 39.

Ariana Grande’s thank u, next holds on to the Official Singles Chart Number 1 single for a second week with another bumper week of sales and streams.

The song achieved the biggest weekly UK streaming figures of any track so far this year, with 9.76 million plays. It’s the highest since Luis Fonsi’s Despacito racked up 10.6 million UK streams in a week in May 2017.

thank u, next posts a combined downloads and streaming equivalent sales figure of 95,000 – more than double its closest rival, Shallow by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper (2).

Elsewhere in this week’s Top 10 Halsey climbs to new heights with Without Me, up three places to 6, Post Malone’s Sunflower ft. Swae Lee lifts two spots to 8, and Freya Ridings rebounds three places back to Number 9 for a third time with Lost Without You.

In the Top 20, Zara Larsson climbs eight spots to Number 14 with Ruin My Life; Khalid also scales eight places with Better at 16; Charli XCX zooms 24 places into the Top 40 with 1999 ft. Troye Sivan (17), earning Charli her tenth UK Top 40 single, and Cheryl has this week’s highest new entry at Number 19 with long-awaited return, Love Made Me Do It.

Elsewhere, James Arthur climbs five places with Empty Space (22), and posthumous single Bad from XXXTentacion enters at Number 23. London rapper Fredo debuts not far behind at Number 25 with BMT.

Jason Derulo’s opera-influenced collab Goodbye with David Guetta ft. Nicki Minaj & Willy William moves up five slots to 26, Billie Eilish hits a new peak at 29 with When The Party’s Over, just ahead of Ellie Goulding, Diplo and Swae Lee’s Close To Me at 30, which has climbed four spots following the release of the song’s music video.

Finally, rising star Ava Max enters the Top 40 with Sweet But Psycho at 32 followed closely by the return of Baby Shark by Pinkfong at Number 33.

Ariana Grande debuts at Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart with her break-up anthem thank u, next.

The single – released last Saturday night – has amassed an impressive 73,000 combined sales in six days, including 6.7 million streams. It finishes over 26,000 combined sales ahead of its closest competitor, Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper’s Shallow (2).

thank u, next is Grande’s third UK Number 1 single but first ever solo chart-topper. Her previous Number 1s are: Problem ft. Iggy Azalea (2014) and Bang Bang with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj (2014).

Despite being about past relationships, thank u, next has been praised for its positive messages of self-love. The song notably premiered just moments before Grande’s ex-fiancé, Pete Davidson, was due to appear on Saturday Night Live; previews had shown him referring to their break-up in sketches on the programme.

Grande is only the fourth single to debut at Number 1 this year following Drake’s Nice For What and God’s Plan, and Dave & Fredo’s Funky Friday. The last female artist to do it was Taylor Swift with Look What You Made Me Do in August 2017.

Jess Glynne jumps 11 places to Number 7 with her latest single Thursday, and Without Me by Halsey zooms 13 places to Number 9 – her highest charting single as a lead artist.

Jonas Blue, Liam Payne and Lennon Stella’s Polaroid vaults 28 places into the Top 40 at Number 16 following their performance on The X Factor last week, and Zara Larsson edges closer to the Top 20 with Ruin My Life, up six to 22. James Arthur’s Empty Space rockets 39 places to 27 to earn him his eighth Top 40 hit.

Further down, Clean Bandit’s new single Baby ft. Marina & The Diamonds and Luis Fonsi debuts at 33, ahead of Benny Blanco & Calvin Harris’ brand new track I Found You at Number 35.

Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper keep their place at the top of the Official Singles Chart for a second week, holding off fierce competition from Little Mix.

Shallow, which is performed in A Star Is Born, is Gaga’s fifth UK Number 1 and first chart-topper since Telephone eight years ago. Two more songs from A Star Is Born feature in this week’s Top 40: Always Remember Us This Way at 27 and I’ll Never Love Again at 29.

Meanwhile, Little Mix’s Woman Like Me ft. Nicki Minaj leaps from 6 to 2 this week – their eighth Top 5 single to date.

Elsewhere in the Top 10, Freya Ridings’ Lost Without You rebounds four places to Number 9, matching its previous peak, and XXXTentacion and Lil Pump’s collaboration with Maluma and Swae Lee claims this week’s highest new entry – Arms Around You debuts at Number 14.

Jess Glynne lands her 12th Top 20 hit as Thursday rises five slots to 18, Zara Larsson’s Ruin My Life hops three places to 28, and When The Party’s Over by Billie Eilish vaults 16 spots to Number 34 – marking the US singer-songwriter’s first UK Top 40 hit.
