Uncharted: The Lost Legacy dethrones Crash from the charts

Tuesday, August 29th, 2017

For a long time it has been Crash Bandicoot: Nsane Trilogy that has held the top spot in the UK sales charts, but now it’s finally time for the mascot to step aside, and give way for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Not a bad result for a standalone game that was originally planned as a DLC for Uncharted 4, and Naughty Dog will no doubt be pleased with that result

Codemasters’ racer F1 2017 also beat Crash Bandicoot, and Madden NFL 18 is another new entry that’s cracked the top 10, sitting in fourth place, just behind Crash Bandicoot’s new position of third.

Feel free to check out the top 10 in full down below:

1. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy / Sony
2. F1 2017 / Codemasters
3. Crash Bandicoot: N Sane Trilogy / Activision
4. Madden NFL 18 / EA
5. Grand Theft Auto V / Rockstar
6. Fallout 4 / Bethesda
7. Dishonored 2 / Bethesda
8. Forza Horizon 3 / Microsoft
9. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6: Siege / Ubisoft

Dua Lipa denies Justin Bieber and BloodPop this week’s Number 1 single

Friday, August 25th, 2017

Dua Lipa fends off some strong competition to claim a second week at Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart.

New Rules, which is the first chart-topper from a solo female artist since Adele’s Hello in October 2015, denies Justin Bieber & BloodPop’s brand new track Friends a Number 1 debut, with the pair settling for second place. The entry gives Bieber his 15th UK Top 10 and producer BloodPop his first as a credited artist.

Meanwhile, Calvin Harris drops a place to Number 3 with Feels ft. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean, while P!nk climbs a spot to 4 with her latest single What About Us.

Rounding off this week’s Top 5 is a new entry from CNCO and Little Mix. The Latin American boyband have teamed up with Jesy, Perrie, Leigh-Anne and Jade for a remix of their song Reggaeton Lento, which has already been a massive hit across South America. Their combined star power earns CNCO their first UK Top 10 and Little Mix their 12th.

New entries and high climbers

Two singles climb inside the Top 10 for the first time this week: Mi Gente by J Balvin and Willy William moves four places to Number 8, and James Hype’s More Than Friends – a dance re-work of En Vogue’s ‘90s hit Don’t Let Go (Love) featuring Kelli-Leigh – leaps six spots to 10. The original version peaked at 5 in 1997.

Further down, rising UK rapper Yungen cracks the Top 20 with Bestie ft. Yxng Bane, up three to 18, and Chris Brown debuts at 21 with Questions, notching up his 28th Top 40 hit.

Finally, two tracks make their Top 40 debut this week. Rapper Macklemore jumps nine places to 36 with Glorious ft. Skylar Grey, marking his first Top 40 entry in nearly two years, and Camila Cabello’s Havana vaults 20 spots to 37.

Dua Lipa scores first solo female UK Number 1 single since Adele’s Hello

Friday, August 18th, 2017

Congratulations to Dua Lipa, who climbs to Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart and in doing so, ends a long drought of chart-toppers from female solo artists.

Dua’s latest single New Rules leaps from 5 to 1 to become the first Number 1 by a female solo artist in almost two years, since Adele’s Hello claimed the top spot in October 2015.

New Rules is Dua’s first Number 1 and follows two previous Top 10s by the star this year: No Lie (with Sean Paul, Number 10) and Be The One (9). Her self-titled debut album, released back in June, holds in the Top 10 this week at Number 7.

Dua told OfficialCharts.com: “Thank you so much for supporting New Rules – we are officially Number 1! Thank you for sharing it with all your friends, for streaming it, for downloading it. I love you, this means a lot to me.”

New Rules dethrones last week’s chart-topper, Feels by Calvin Harris, Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean, down to 2 after one week at the top.

Meanwhile, P!nk is at Number 5 with her new single What About Us. The track, which debuted at 83 on last week’s chart after less than 24 hours on sale, earns the US superstar her 19th Top 10 single in the UK.

New entries and high climbers

J Balvin and Willy William’s Mi Gente edges closer to the Top 10, leaping seven places to Number 12, and James Hype’s dance cover of En Vogue’s Don’t Let Go (Love), called More Than Friends, makes its Top 40 debut, vaulting 31 places to 16.

Kesha’s Praying rebounds 11 places to Number 27 following the release of her new album Rainbow, and Real Life by Duke Dumont and Gorgon City continues to scale the Official Chart, rising five spots to Number 31.

Calvin Harris dethrones Despacito to claim his eighth Number 1 single

Friday, August 11th, 2017

Calvin Harris and his latest all-star troupe of collaborators have secured this week’s Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart.

Feels, the Scottish DJ’s latest track featuring guest vocals from Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean, becomes Calvin’s eighth UK Number 1 hit, putting him level with The Rolling Stones, Oasis and Eminem, who each have the same number of chart-toppers.

Harris now has the second most Number 1s of any British male soloist, behind Cliff Richard, who has notched up an incredible 14 Number 1 hits.

The producer’s previous Number 1s are: Dance Wiv Me (with Dizzee Rascal, 2008), I’m Not Alone (2009), We Found Love (with Rihanna, 2011), Sweet Nothing (2012), Under Control (2013), Summer (2014) and Blame (2014).

Feels also earns Pharrell his fourth UK Number 1 and first since Happy climbed to the top in December 2013, while it’s Katy’s fifth and Big Sean’s first time at the top.

Rounding out this week’s Top 5 with a climb of four places is Dua Lipa’s New Rules. The song is officially Dua’s highest ever chart placing at Number 5.

New entries and high climbers

Rudimental and James Arthur reach new heights this week with Sun Comes Up, up two to Number 6, while Enrique Iglesias, Sean Paul and Matt Terry’s Subeme La Radio also scales two places to hit Number 10.

Jax Jones, Demi Lovato and Stefflon Don’s Instruction hits a new high of Number 16, a leap of six slots, and just behind them, The Script’s Rain lifts 14 positions to Number 17, becoming the group’s seventh Top 20 hit.

Despacito wins close battle to score 11th week at Number 1

Friday, August 4th, 2017

It seems there’s no stopping Despacito – the track has fought off some strong competition to claim another week at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart.

The Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber track logs a 11th week in pole position and is now one of the UK’s longest-reigning chart toppers of all time.

Only six songs in the Official Charts’s 65-year history have spent longer at Number 1, while the only other songs to manage 11 weeks at the summit is Rose Marie by US country singer Slim Whitman in 1955.

Finishing less than 2,500 combined sales behind Despacito is former Number 1 Wild Thoughts, by DJ Khaled, Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, while Calvin Harris’ Feels ft. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean is at 3.

New entries and high climbers

Elsewhere in the Top 10, Rudimental’s Sun Comes Up ft. James Arthur continues to climb, moving two spots to 8, and Dua Lipa’s New Rules zooms ten places to crack into the Top 10 to Number 9. It’s the star’s third single to reach the top tier of the Official Chart: 2016’s No Lie with Sean Paul topped out at 10 and Be The One peaked at 9 in February this year.

Further down, Demi Lovato’s Sorry Not Sorry moves 11 places to a new peak this week at 16, and Finnish newcomer Alma breaks into the Top 20 with Chasing Highs, up six to Number 18.

Making its Top 40 debut this week is Mi Gente, the latin-pop track by Columbian star J Balvin and French producer Willy William. The song, which has already been a massive hit across South America and Europe, bounds 25 places to Number 21 this week.

Finally, two songs rebound back into this week’s Top 40: Yungen’s Bestie ft. Yxng Bane is up 11 spots to 30, and The Script’s Rain leaps 13 to Number 31.
