Rudimental claim third Number 1 on Official Singles Chart

Friday, March 30th, 2018

Rudimental’s latest single These Days takes the top spot on this week’s Official Singles Chart.

After a mammoth seven consecutive weeks at Number 2 – a record jointly held with Maroon 5’s Moves Like Jagger – the group’s latest track These Days ft. Jess Glynne, Macklemore and Dan Caplen climbs a place to become their third Number 1.

Rudimental told OfficialCharts.com: “It feels amazing! The fact the fans are still sticking by us and keeping our song in the charts for as long as they have is amazing. A massive thank you to all the fans who are supporting us out there.”

The Hackney-based quartet previously topped the Official Chart in 2012 with Feel The Love ft. John Newman and in 2013 with Waiting All Night ft. Ella Eyre.

Rudimental’s third Number 1 single means guest feature Jess Glynne sets a new Official Chart record this week, claiming the most chart-topping singles for a female solo artist ever.

Following the release of his chart-topping new album Staying At Tamara’s, George Ezra’s Paradise climbs from 5 to Number 2 – his highest charting single to date after his debut single Budapest topped out at 3 in 2014. Another album track, Shotgun, is new at Number 35.

Elsewhere in the Top 5, US rapper and comedian Lil Dicky cracks the Top 10 with Freaky Friday ft. Chris Brown, racing 11 places to Number 5.

New entries and high climbers

Sigala & Paloma Faith’s Lullaby lifts three spots to 9, earning the producer his sixth Top 10 and Paloma her fifth, while Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes scores the two highest new entries of the week following his double release – In My Blood opens at Number 13 and Lost In Japan is at 27.

Further down, Yxng Bane’s Vroom lifts five places to Number 40, earning the rapper his third UK Top 40 single.

Gaming charts: Sea of Thieves steals the top spot

Monday, March 26th, 2018

This week’s charts have now landed, and it’ll be no surprise for many given the previous months of hype and testing periods that Microsoft and Rare’s Sea of Thieves has sailed into the top spot on its debut week, meaning that it has triumphed over another three debuts in the top four.

Just below Rare’s pirate adventure is EA’s co-operative game A Way Out, closely followed by Bandai Namco’s stellar RPG Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, and the return of Assassin’s Creed Rogue in the form of a remaster, meaning that all these new games have been particularly popular with gamers.

Below that Burnout Paradise Remastered has slipped to 5, while the usual suspects like FIFA 18 and Grand Theft Auto V share the rest of the success in the top 10 with Nintendo’s mascot Mario and EA’s UFC 3. For the full top 10, however, you can check below.

1. Sea of Thieves / Microsoft
2. A Way Out / EA
3. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom / Bandai Namco
4. Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered / Ubisoft
5. Burnout Paradise Remastered / EA
6. FIFA 18 / EA Sports
7. Grand Theft Auto V / Rockstar
8. UFC 3 / EA Sports
9. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe / Nintendo
10. Super Mario Odyssey / Nintendo

Football Manager heads to Nintendo Switch

Saturday, March 24th, 2018

Football Manager Touch 2018 has been rated in Korea, as grabbed at ResetEra. The game showed up at the classification system today, with a release date TBA in 2018.

It’s worth noting though that, while this isn’t the full package Sports Interactive and Sega release on PC every year, neither is it the cut-down version the company launches on mobile phones, but something much closer to the former, aimed at portable devices with a touchscreen. In fact, Football Manager Touch 2018 released at the end of 2017 on PC (Windows/Mac/Linux) and tablets (iOS/Android), for £22 (€30) (it’s currently discounted on Steam and costs half of that), including several additional online modes compared to the mobile game. Watch the trailer below for more info.

Sega hasn’t made the Nintendo Switch version official as of yet, but it’d also be the first FM on console this generation.

Drake holds off Rudimental to claim a ninth week at Number 1

Friday, March 23rd, 2018

God’s Plan by Drake has secured a ninth week at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart.

The Canadian’s latest single joins 20 other songs in the Official Chart’s 66-year history to have logged nine or more weeks at the top. God’s Plan is the star’s second hit to achieve this after his 2016 summer smash One Dance spent 15 weeks at the summit. View the longest reigning Official Singles Chart Number 1 hits here.

Rudimental’s These Days ft. Jess Glynne, Macklemore and Dan Caplen put up another good fight this week, finishing just 3,200 combined sales behind Drake at Number 2. In turn, the song has now matched an Official Chart record for the most weeks spent at Number 2; These Days shares this feat with All-4-One’s 1994 hit I Swear, and the 2011 single Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5 ft. Christina Aguilera.

Elsewhere in this week’s Top 5, George Ezra score his highest chart entry since July 2014, as Paradise climbs seven places to Number 5. Lullaby is now Paloma’s highest charting track since Changing with Sigma debuted at Number 1 in September 2014.

New entries and high climbers

Bebe Rexha’s country crossover hit Meant To Be ft. Florida Georgia Line continues to climb, up eight places to Number 12 this week. One slot behind are Sigala & Paloma Faith with Lullaby, up six to 13. Lullaby is now Paloma’s highest charting track since Changing with Sigma debuted at Number 1 in September 2014.

US rapper and comedian Lil Dicky and Chris Brown score this week’s highest new entry with Freaky Friday at Number 16, plus XXXTentacion makes two appearances in the Top 40 this week, at Number 20 with Sad! (up eight places) and Number 31 with Moonlight (new).

Finally, girl group M.O vault four places with Bad Vibe ft. Lotto Boyz and Mr. Eazi (23), while Love Lies by Khalid and Normani, taken from the upcoming Love, Simon film, climbs six rungs to Number 24.

Charts: Burnout Paradise Remastered gets heavenly start

Monday, March 19th, 2018

Burnout Paradise Remastered is a game we enjoyed a lot, as you can tell from our review, and it seems to have garnered a lot of popularity as well, since it has debuted at number one in this week’s UK charts, beating out the debut of Kirby Star Allies to get there, which sits just behind at number two.

The rest of the top 10 is peppered with household names like FIFA 18, Grand Theft Auto V, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, so in terms of surprises we’re pretty much let off this week, aside from perhaps UFC 3 which sits at number 8. For the whole top 10 though, take a look down below.

It should be noted that Kirby Star Allies has still had a very successful start, as GamesIndustry.biz reports that the game is the fastest-selling boxed Kirby release ever – out of the 19 retail releases since 1996 – and is in fact sold out in most UK retailers.

Is Burnout deserving of the top spot?

1. Burnout Paradise Remastered / EA
2. Kirby Star Allies / Nintendo
3. FIFA 18 / EA Sports
4. Grand Theft Auto V / Rockstar
5. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe / Nintendo
6. Super Mario Odyssey / Nintendo
7. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds / Microsoft
8. UFC 3 / EA Sports
9. Fallout 4 / Bethesda
10. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild / Nintendo

FIFA 18 stays on top of the gaming charts in static week for sales

Tuesday, March 6th, 2018

Sometimes the weekly retail sales news pieces we share with you are full of interesting observations, stunning debuts, and even the odd tale of games crashing and burning at retail. Sad to say, but this is not a week like that.

Simply put, the charts are largely how they were seven days ago, with the top three remaining as they were with FIFA 18 still sitting pretty in top spot, and with only subtle movement behind it (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bumped up to fourth, Metal Gear Survive tumbled out of the top ten into seventeenth, for example). So yeah, there’s not much to report, so we’ll leave you with this week’s top ten, courtesy of GfK Chart-Track, and then move onto something else…

1. FIFA 18 / EA
2. Grand Theft Auto V / Take-Two
3. Call of Duty: WWII / Activision
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe / Nintendo
5. Monster Hunter: World / Capcom
6. Super Mario Odyssey / Nintendo
7. UFC 3 / EA
8. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds / Microsoft
9. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild / Nintendo
10. Shadow of the Colossus / Sony

Drake’s God’s Plan scores sixth week at Number 1

Friday, March 2nd, 2018

Drake celebrates another week of chart glory this week as his latest single, God’s Plan, extends its reign at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart.

The track scores a sixth week in pole position, holding off Rudimental’s These Days ft. Jess Glynne, Macklemore and Dan Caplen, which spends a fourth week in the runner-up slot.

This week’s highest new entry goes to US rapper Post Malone, who lands at Number 4 with his new single Psycho. It’s the artist’s second UK Top 10 single, following last year’s chart-topping Rockstar.

Completing this week’s Top 5 is Marshmello and Anne-Marie’s collaboration Friends, up four places to 5.

New entries and high climbers

Justin Timberlake’s Say Something ft. Chris Stapleton zooms 12 places to Number 10 following his performance at last week’s BRIT Awards. The climb earns Justin his 20th Top 10 single and first from his Man Of The Woods album.
