The Division continues to top the gaming chart

Tuesday, March 29th, 2016

It’s bad news for Capcom and Street Fighter 5, which has completely dropped out of the all-format gaming charts.

The PS4 and PC brawler debuted in second back in February, but dropped eight places the following week before eventually dropping out of the top 20 earlier this month.

It now finds itself outside of the top 40 altogether, having landed at 28 last week.

It’s better news for Ubisoft, which has three games in the top ten. The Division continues to dominate the gaming chart in first, followed by EA Sports UFC 2 and Far Cry Primal.

FIFA 16 follows at four, Black Ops 3 charts at five and GTA 5 climbs one place to six. Star Wars: Battlefront lands at seven, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers charts at eight, while Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 and Rainbow Six: Siege round things off at nine and ten.

Here’s the all-format gaming chart in full:

  1. The Division (Ubisoft)

Mike Posner is the new Number 1

Friday, March 18th, 2016

Lukas Graham have lost their number one crown by a thread.

Mike Posner’s ‘I Took A Pill In Ibiza’ has stolen the top spot from ‘7 Years’ in a last minute overnight jolt.

In fact, there were only 261 combined sales between the two singles, making it the closest chart race of the year.

It’s also the narrowest margin between the Top 2 since 2007, when Timbaland and Keri Hilson’s ‘The Way I Are’ beat Kate Nash’s’ ‘Foundations’ to number one by just 16 copies.

Meanwhile, Zara Larsson’s ‘Lush Life’ climbs a spot to number three as Fifth Harmony’s ‘Work From Home’ leaps seven spots to four, and Rihanna’s ‘Work’ completes the Top 5.

Ariana Grande scores this week’s highest new entry with ‘Dangerous Woman’ entering at 17, while Selena Gomez’s ‘Hands To Myself’ climbs 11 places to 21.

Finally, Zayn has scored his second solo Top 40 with ‘Like I Would’ swooping straight in at 30.

The Division becomes the UK’s biggest ever Q1 gaming release

Wednesday, March 16th, 2016

The Division is breaking records left and right for Ubisoft. Already the company’s biggest-selling new release over a 24-hour period, the game is now the UK’s best-selling Q1 release.

That makes it the most popular game to be released between January 1 and March 31 ever – or at least since records began. It outpaced previous record holder Gran Turismo 4, which made its UK debut all the way back on March 9, 2004.

However, while it’s Ubisoft’s biggest new release globally, launch sales were behind Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed 3 in the UK.

Still it’s a great start for the shooter, which made 54% of sales on the PS4, compared to 45% on Xbox One.

It tops the chart above fellow Ubisoft title Far Cry Primal, which is followed by Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, FIFA 16 and Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2.

Elsewhere, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers charts at six, GTA 5 remains at seven, Forza 6 climbs to eight, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD drops to nine and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege charts at ten.

Lukas Graham are No.1 for a sixth week

Friday, March 11th, 2016

Lukas Graham have nabbed number one for another week, giving them the longest consecutive reign at the top of the charts since Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’s ‘Uptown Funk’ notched up six weeks.

‘7 Years’ has also given the group the title of the longest-reigning number one from a Danish act in UK chart history.

We know what you’re thinking, but shockingly Aqua’s ‘Barbie Girl’ and Whigfield’s ‘Saturday Night’ only managed four weeks at the top of the charts. Madness.

Saying that, ‘Barbie Girl’ and ‘Saturday Night’ are both million-selling singles – a milestone Lukas Graham still need to meet.

Elsewhere, Mike Posner’s ‘I Took A Pill In Ibiza’ climbs a place to number two while Rihanna and Drake’s ‘Work’ is at three, Zara Larsson’s ‘Lush Life’ claims four and Jonas Blue’s ‘Fast Car’ completes the Top 5.

Zara Larsson makes another appearance at nine with her feature on Tinie Tempah’s new single ‘Girls Like’, which leaps six spots to number nine.

Finally, Fifth Harmony’s new single ‘Work From Home’ climbs six places to number 11.

NHS promotion film captures glory days of Sky Blues

Wednesday, March 9th, 2016

A short film capturing the memories of the Sky Blues’ thrilling 1987 FA Cup victory was launched on social media last Wednesday (March 2).

As part of a campaign to promote free NHS Health Checks to those aged between 40 and 74, the film stars former players including Dave Bennett and Micky Gynn.

The new ‘Be there for the good times’ campaign has been developed in partnership with Coventry City Council, Coventry City Football Club and Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust.

The video aims to encourage those aged between 40 and 74 to take up the free health MOT and keep their health in check.

Coun Kamran Caan, cabinet member for health and adult services, said: “The 1987 FA Cup Final was a wonderful day for our city and many Coventry people of a certain age will have special memories of it.

“By this age many of us have dramatically increased our risk of contracting diseases like Type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

“But by taking up a free NHS Health Check and making small changes we can dramatically increase the chances of staying healthy and active as we get older.”

Dave Bennett, who was voted man of the match in the 1987 FA Cup Final, is backing the campaign and has taken up the opportunity of a Health Check himself.

He said: “I had my check-up at my local surgery.

“It was really thorough and they checked my bloods, my weight, my cholesterol, everything really.

“It has all come back fine, which is good to know and I would recommend the service to anyone.”

Karen Wagstaff, Lifestyle Service Manager at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, said: “A free NHS Health Check can save your life by identifying any warning signs early and giving you the chance to make lifestyle changes.

“Its’ quick and easy – you just need to ask your GP.”

All adults aged between 40 and 74 who have not had a Health Check in the last five years are eligible for the scheme and can get a check at their GP surgery or at one of several community venues across the city.

For more information about NHS Health Checks visit www.coventry.gov.uk/nhshealthcheck or call 024 7696 1590.

Far Cry Primal tops Ukie Games Chart for 2nd week

Monday, March 7th, 2016

Ubisoft took a risk stripping the guns from Far Cry and swapping them out for clubs, spears and remote-controlled owls, but it seems to have paid off, with the game taking the number one spot in the UK charts.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has seen its 11-week run at the top moved down three places, with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD at number two and Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 – a game with its roots (sorry) in a Call of Duty pun – at number three.

FIFA 16 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 are still hanging into the top five, with Black Ops 3 in fourth and FIFA 16 in fifth.

Here are the charts in full:

Lukas Graham are No.1 for a fourth week

Friday, March 4th, 2016

But RiRi and Drake were the most streamed.

Rihanna and Drake didn’t quite do enough to topple Lukas Graham’s reign at the top of the charts.

The Danish group are number one for a fourth week after securing sales of 106,000, higher than their first week at the top.

Rihanna and Drake have the most streamed track of the week with ‘Work’, but must settle for number two for another week.

Meanwhile, Mike Posner’s track ‘I Took A Pill In Ibiza’ leaps eight places to three as Zara Larsson hops two places to four with ‘Lush Life’, and Jonas Blue & Dakota’s ‘Fast Car’ rounds off the Top 5.

Adele’s latest single ‘When We Were Young’ has broken the Top 10 for the first time, taking the number nine spot.

Tinie Tempah claims this week’s highest new entry, with ‘Girls Like’ debuting at 15 and landing him his 15th Top 40 hit.

Finally, Fifth Harmony’s collaboration with Ty Dolla Sign ‘Work From Home’ makes an entry at 23.
