Kings of Leon score fourth UK No.1 album

Kings of Leon have achieved their fourth UK number one album with Mechanical Bull.

The US band’s latest LP sold over 71,000 copies this week to come out on top in a week full of new releases.

Drake sold 61,000 copies of Nothing Was the Same to land at two, making it the fastest-selling hip-hop album of 2013.

Jessie J enters at three with her second studio album Alive, while Arctic Monkeys slip three to four with AM after two weeks at the top.

Jason Derulo follows his number one single ‘Talk Dirty’ by landing at five with his third album Tattoos.

Birdy achieves a new entry at eight with her second album Fire Within, while Chvrches enter at nine with The Bones of What You Believe.

Sting’s first full solo album in over a decade The Last Ship is a new entry at 14, followed by Dream Theater’s self-titled effort at 15.

Mazzy Star’s Seasons of Your Day is new at 24, while the 20th anniversary of Nirvana’s In Utero lands at 28. New Model Army enter at 34 with Between Dog and Wolf.
