FIFA 16 tops gaming chart for a fourth week

FIFA 16 continues to be the UK’s best selling all-format game, making it to number one for the fourth week running.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is once again in second place despite a 50% drop in sales, while Destiny: The Taken King is in third place for yet another week.

It’s a mixed week of success for new entries. Bandai Namco role-playing game Tales of Zestiria debuts in eighth place, and WRC 5 and Dragon Quest Heroes just make it into the top 20, in 12th and 18th place respectively.

Meanwhile, the console version of Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut debuts in 36th place.

Bieber tops singles chart for a fifth week

Justin Bieber’s ‘What Do You Mean?’ continues to reign over the UK singles chart.

The track fought off fierce competition to spend a fifth week at the top, and is now the second-longest number one of this year behind Mark Ronson’s ‘Uptown Funk’.

R City’s ‘Locked Away’ featuring Adam Levine is in second place, while Drake scores his highest-charting single as a lead artist, with ‘Hotline Bling’ rising to three.

‘Runnin’ (Lose It All)’ from Naughty Boy featuring Beyoncé and Arrow Benjamin is at four, and The Weeknd’s ‘The Hills’ reaches a new peak at five.

Jamie Lawson – signed to Ed Sheeran’s Gingerbread Man Records – leaps from 40 to number six this week with ‘Wasn’t Expecting That’.

Lower down, Olly Murs earns his 12th top 20 hit as ‘Kiss Me’ lands at 14, and The 1975’s ‘Love Me’ enters at 20.

Fetty Wap and Monty’s ‘679’ leaps to number 24, and Selena Gomez’s ‘Good for You’ re-enters the top 40 at 38.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection debuts behind FIFA 16

FIFA 16 has maintained its grip on the all-format gaming chart for a third week running.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is its closest competitor, entering the chart in second, above Destiny: The Taken King.

LEGO Dimensions and Forza Motorsport 6 follow at four and five, while GTA 5 and Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer chart at six and seven.

Rock Band 4 makes its chart debut at 10, below Metal Gear 5: The Phantom Pain and NBA 2K16.

Elsewhere, PES 2016 drops to 20, below the likes of Super Mario Maker and Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Justin Bieber tops the UK singles chart for a fourth week

Justin Bieber’s ‘What Do You Mean?’ has once again returned to the top of the UK singles chart.

The track reigns for a fourth week today (October 9), and has now had three different stints at number one, becoming only the fourth song in history to do so.

‘What Do You Mean?’ is also the most streamed tune of the week, with 2.91 million listens over the last seven days.

R City rise to number two with ‘Locked Away’, featuring Adam Levine, while Sam Smith’s Bond theme ‘Writing’s on the Wall’ falls to three.

Philip George and Anton Powers’ ‘Alone No More’ climbs 120 places to reach number four, and Ellie Goulding’s ‘On My Mind’ rounds off the top five.

The Vamps’ ‘Wake Up’ is a new entry at number 12 and also the most physically purchased song of the week, while Natalie La Rose lands at 14 with ‘Around the World’, featuring Fetty Wap.

MNEK and Zara Larsson are at 32 with ‘Never Forget You’, and Jamie Lawson – signed to Ed Sheeran’s Gingerbread Man Records – sneaks in at 40 with ‘Wasn’t Expecting You’ to score his first Top 40 single.

LEGO Dimensions outsells NBA 2K16 but lags behind FIFA

FIFA 16 remains top of the all-format gaming chart, despite a 74% drop in weekly sales.

LEGO Dimensions enters the chart in second, and comfortably outperforms its toys-to-life rivals, making more week one sales than Disney Infinity 3.0 and Skylanders: Superchargers.

LEGO Dimensions is the third biggest-selling toys-to-life game at launch, behind only Skylanders Giants and Skylanders Swap Force.

NBA 2K16 enters in third, generating 53% more week one sales than NBA 2K15.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is the next highest new entry at six, charting below Destiny: The Taken King and Forza Motorsport 6.

After experiencing a number of issues at launch, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 only manages to debut at 12, below Mad Max and PES 2016.

James Bond movie theme is first ever No.1 single

Sam Smith has officially made history by clinching the first ever No.1 Bond theme.

The singer’s Spectre theme ‘Writing’s on the Wall’ has racked up 70,000 sales to finish 13,000 copies ahead of its closest competitor, Justin Bieber’s ‘What Do You Mean?’.

None of the previous 23 Bond themes have ever topped the charts, with Adele’s ‘Skyfall’ and Duran Duran’s ‘A View to a Kill’ coming closest with number two peaks.

“It was such an honour to be asked to write and record ‘Writing’s on the Wall’ and it’s incredible that it’s become the first number one Bond theme song,” Smith told the Official Charts.

“It’s been an unforgettable experience working with Barbara [Broccoli] and Sam [Mendes] to become part of this British legacy. I couldn’t have done this without my fans – this is a special moment I’ll never forget.”

Meanwhile, R City and Adam Levine’s ‘Locked Away’ is at three, Sigala’s ‘Easy Love’ slips to four and The Weeknd’s ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ completes the Top 5.

Rudimental and Ed Sheeran’s collaboration ‘Lay It All on Me’ has become the Hackney group’s eighth Top 40 hit.

Naughty Boy hops two places to nine with his Beyoncé collaboration ‘Runnin’ (Lose It All)’ while Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’s ‘Downtown’ is just outside the Top 10 at number 11.

Finally, Little Mix’s ‘Love Me Like You’ makes its debut at number 21 and Sia’s ‘Alive’ enters at 30.

Everest tops UK box office for a second week

Everest has climbed to the top of the UK box office for a second weekend running.

The disaster drama, based on true events and starring Jason Clarke, Jake Gyllenhaal and Josh Brolin, took £2m to bring its running total to £6.8m.

Tom Hardy’s Legend remains in second place, ahead of Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.

Miss You Already starring Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette is the highest new entry at number four, while Pixar’s Inside Out rounds out the top five.

Elsewhere, Solace lands at number six, and Pixels re-enters at number nine.

FIFA 16 easily beats Skylander to top gaming chart

FIFA 16 has soared to the top of the all-format gaming chart, despite a 7% drop in week-one sales.

EA’s latest football release sold 7% fewer copies than FIFA 15, and experienced a 4% drop in revenue.

Approximately 45% of all copies were purchased on PS4, compared to 36% on Xbox One and a combined 19% on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Destiny: The Taken King drops down to second, Forza Motorsport 6 falls to third, while Skylanders Superchargers enters the chart at four.

Metal Gear 5, PES 2016, Mad Max, GTA 5, Call of Duty: Ghosts and LEGO Jurassic World also appear in the top ten.

Elsewhere, Blood Bowl 2 enters the chart at 15, while Rugby World Cup 2015 makes an appearance at 18.

Justin Bieber’s comeback track ‘What Do You Mean?’ has topped the UK singles chart for the third non-consecutive week.

The Canadian popstar’s first-ever UK number one single is also the week’s most-streamed track, with over 3.2 million listens overall.

Coming in once again at number two this week is Sigala’s ‘Easy Love’, which briefly unseated Bieber before falling back to second.

R City and Adam Levine’s ‘Locked Away’ leaps 13 places up to number 3, while Calvin Harris and Disciples’ ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ slips one spot to 4.

Finishing out the top five this week is ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ by The Weeknd for its eighth week in the top ten.

Other major debuts include Ellie Goulding’s confessional ‘On My Mind’ at 7, Naughty Boy, Beyoncé and Arrow Benjamin’s ‘Runnin’ (Lose It All)’ at 11 and Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ at 17.

Everest climbs to summit of UK box office

Everest has climbed to the summit of the UK box office on its first weekend on release.

The mountain drama, about a 1996 expedition devastated by severe weather conditions, ended Tom Hardy’s brief reign atop the charts with Legend.

Jason Clarke, Jake Gyllenhaal and Josh Brolin lead the cast of the film, which took in £3.1 million to claim first place at UK cinemas.

Legend slips down to second place, while Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is at number three on its second weekend on release.

M Night Shyamalan’s The Visit and Inside Out round out the top five.

Elsewhere, the chart sees new entries from Robert Redford’s A Walk in the Woods, the Battle of Britain at 75 live concert broadcast and children’s comedy Bill.
