Justin Bieber overtakes Adele to claim No.1

Justin Bieber has knocked Adele’s ‘Hello’ from its perch to claim this week’s number one single, and match John Lennon’s chart record in the process.

Unbelievably, every single track from the singer’s new album Purpose is in the Top 100. With eight of those tracks in the Top 40, Bieber’s the only living artist to have achieved that number of simultaneous positions.

As well as ‘Sorry’ nabbing the top spot, Bieber’s ‘Love Yourself’ and ‘What Do You Mean’ are both in the Top 5 at three and five respectively.

The 22-year-old is also the first artist to celebrate three singles in the Top 5 since John Lennon did so after his death 34 years ago, with ‘Imagine’, ‘Happy Xmas’ and ‘(Just Like) Starting Over’.

Elsewhere, Adele’s ‘Hello’ is at two and Fleur East’s ‘Sax’ drops a place to four.

Jess Glynne has earned her eighth Top 10 single with Children in Need track ‘Take Me Home’, while One Direction’s ‘Perfect’ climbs six places to number ten.

Fallout 4 has the third biggest launch of the year

Fallout 4 has debuted at the top of the all-format gaming chart.

The open-world role-playing game is the third biggest launch of the year so far, behind only FIFA 16 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

In fact, week one sales are up by a whopping 213% on Fallout: New Vegas. It made 53% of sales on PS4, 41% on Xbox 360 and 6% on PC.

It’s followed by Black Ops 3 and FIFA 16 in second and third, and Rise of the Tomb Raider in fourth.

Minecraft: Story Mode and Need for Speed occupy fifth and sixth, while Football Manager 2016 debuts at seven. LEGO Dimensions, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Halo 5 also appear in the top ten.

Adele holds on to No.1 for a third consecutive week

Adele’s reign at the top of the singles chart continues for another week.

The singer is number one for a third consecutive week with her comeback track ‘Hello’, which outsold its nearest competitor, Justin Bieber’s ‘Sorry’, by over 34,000 combined chart sales.

Adele has also claimed the week’s most streamed track, racking up 4.7 million plays while Justin’s ‘Sorry’ is right behind it with 4.5 million.

X Factor runner-up Fleur East enters at three with her debut single ‘Sax’ while West London trio WSTRN are this week’s highest climber with ‘In2’ leaping 56 places to four.

MNEK and Zara Larsson’s ‘Never Forget You’ claims a new chart peak and rounds off the Top 5.

Meanwhile, Norwegian singer-songwriter Aurora is at 11 with her cover of Oasis’s ‘Half the World Away’ for this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert.

Coldplay are at 14 with ‘Adventure of a Lifetime’, which marks their 21st Top 40, while Jess Glynne’s official Children in Need single ‘Take Me Home’ is at 20.

Finally, Justin Bieber scores his 29th UK Top 40 single with ‘I’ll Show You’ and One Direction claim their 18th with ‘History’.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 tops gaming chart

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has topped the all-format chart, knocking Halo 5: Guardians all the way down to fourth.

Launching on a Friday for the first time since 2009, the latest Call of Duty is the seventh biggest-selling game in the series in terms of week-one sales, and the 14th biggest-seller overall.

Approximately 91% of sales were made on Xbox One and PS4, compared to 68% for Advanced Warfare.

FIFA 16 moves up one place to second, above Need for Speed, which debuts at three.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Minecraft: Story Mode, WWE 2K16, GTA 5, LEGO Dimensions and Call of Duty: Ghosts also appear in the top ten.

ASDA’s £49 2DS and Mario Kart 7 bundle helped the Nintendo racer re-enter the chart at 14.

Adele is No.1 for another week

Adele’s reign at the top of the charts continues for another week.

‘Hello’ became the fastest-selling single of 2015 last Friday, setting a new streaming record in the process.

On top of that, the singer’s comeback track has also already been certified Gold by the BPI.

This week alone, ‘Hello’ has sold an impressive 121,000 downloads and notched up 5.78 million streams​.

Meanwhile Justin Bieber is at two with ‘Sorry’, while Sam Smith’s Bond theme ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ from the movie Spectre is at three.

The Weeknd’s ‘The Hills’ climbs a place to four, while Drake slips two places to complete the Top 5 with ‘Hotline Bling’.

Ariana Grande’s ‘Focus’ is this week’s highest new entry at ten, as Belgian DJ Lost Frequencies scores a second Top 40 with ‘Reality’ at 29.

Little Mix’s ‘Love Me Like You’ has reached a new chart peak, climbing nine places to number 19.

Halo 5: Guardians outsells Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

Master Chief finds himself at the top of the all-format gaming chart with Halo 5: Guardians.

Halo 5 generated 50% more week-one sales than Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, as well as last year’s Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Ubisoft’s London-based Assassin’s Creed drops down to second, above FIFA 16 in third and WWE 2K16 at four.

The latest WWE game outsells its predecessor by 3-to-1 in terms of week one sales. It’s followed by another new entry in Minecraft: Story Mode.

GTA 5, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Watch Dogs, LEGO Dimensions and LEGO Jurassic World also appear in the top ten.

Adele scores the biggest No.1 in three years

It’s official: Adele has scored the biggest UK number one single in three years.

The singer’s highly-anticipated comeback track ‘Hello’ has scored whopping combined sales of 333,000 in its opening week, becoming her second chart-topping single.

That means Adele now has the biggest single since, erm, James Arthur’s X Factor winner’s single ‘Impossible’ (which managed to snag 490,000 sales back in 2012).

Adele can also boast the second biggest No.1 of the millennium if you exclude X Factor/Pop Idol winners’ singles, major charity campaign records and Christmas number ones (the biggest is Shaggy’s 2001 banger ‘It Wasn’t Me’).

Meanwhile Justin Bieber is forced to settle for number two with his new single ‘Sorry’, which has accrued an impressive 102,000 combined sales in its opening week.

The singer has also beaten his own streaming record, racking up 4.48 million streams – but Adele has already taken that record from him with an impressive 7.32 million streams.

Elsewhere Drake swoops in to claim number three with ‘Hotline Bling’, while Sam Smith’s Bond theme ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ climbs seven places to four and The Weeknd’s ‘The Hills’ completes the Top 5.

MNEK and Zara Larsson’s ‘Never Forget You’ is at 11, Macklemore hops two places to 14 with ‘Downtown’ and Little Mix’s ‘Love Me Like You’ climbs four places to 28.

Syndicate tops gaming chart above FIFA 16

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate has knocked FIFA 16 off the top of the all-format gaming chart.

Ubisoft will be happy to take the top spot off EA’s footballing juggernaut, but less pleased with Syndicate‘s overall performance.

The latest entry in the Assassin’s Creed series sold fewer copies in its first week than any other major Assassin’s Creed release.

FIFA 16 drops to second after a 16% decline in sales, while Guitar Hero Live debuts in third, generating 24% more week one sales than its predecessor Warriors of Rock.

The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes charts just outside the top ten at 11, below the likes of Forza 6, LEGO Jurassic World and Metal Gear Solid 5.

Watch Dogs re-enters the top 20 thanks to its inclusion in new PS4 bundles, while Just Dance 2016 debuts at 19.

KDA, Katy B and Tinie Tempah beat One Direction to No.1

One Direction have been pipped to the post by KDA, Katy B and Tinie Tempah for this week’s number one.

The producer’s track ‘Turn The Music Louder (Rumble)’ was 2,000 combined chart sales ahead of the group’s latest single ‘Perfect’.

“It feels great – as if I’ve been competing with One Direction. The success of this record has happened all by itself – I had no idea what was going to happen when we put it out,” KDA told Official Charts.

“I always wanted a singer and rapper on this track; and it feels like it’s become one of those songs that people are allowed to like – which is just amazing!”

Tinie Tempah can now celebrate his seventh number one while Katy B’s involvement in the track means she’s clinched her first chart-topping single.

Meanwhile, The Weeknd climbs two places to number three with ‘The Hills’ while Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ is at four.

Justin Bieber’s ‘What Do You Mean?’ loses its reigning position to settle for number five but enjoys another week as the most streamed track.

Elsewhere, Sleepy Tom’s Diplo collaboration ‘Be Right There’ is the week’s highest climber, leaping 83 places to eight.

X Factor winner Ben Haenow enters at 21 with his Kelly Clarkson duet ‘Second Hand Heart’ while Demi Lovato’s ‘Cool For The Summer’ is at 39.

Next week will see Adele go head-to-head with Justin Bieber for number one.
