Jake Bugg beats Leona Lewis to score debut No.1 album

Jake Bugg has soared to the top of the UK album chart with his self-titled debut.

The 18-year-old singer-songwriter entered straight at the top and knocked Babel by Mumford & Sons down to the runner-up spot.

Leona Lewis’s third studio album Glassheart entered at three, having been at number two in the midweeks.

Muse drop one place to four with former number one The 2nd Law, while Rebecca Ferguson’s repackaged version of Heaven enters at five.

Bat for Lashes enters at six with her latest LP The Haunted Man, just one place lower than her previous album Two Suns.

Art Garfunkel achieves his first solo album Top 10 placing in 32 years with his The Singer compilation at ten.

Mumford & Sons beat Ellie Goulding to top UK album chart

Mumford & Sons have reclaimed the top spot in the UK album chart with Babel.

Topping the chart two weeks ago, the folk band’s second studio album beat Ellie Goulding’s second LP Halcyon to the summit.

Muse drop two places to three with The 2nd Law. Pink falls one to four with The Truth About Love, while Emeli Sandé is a non-mover at five.

Jeff Lynne dominates the lower end of the Top 10, with his second solo album Long Wave entering at seven.

Electric Light Orchestra’s collection of new recordings Mr. Blue Sky – The Very Best Of is new at eight, while All Over The World – The Very Best Of is a non-mover at ten.

All Time Low land at nine with their latest LP Don’t Panic. Australian band Tame Impala enter at 14 with Lonerism.

Muse score fourth number one album with ‘The 2nd Law’

Muse have secured their fourth UK number one album with The 2nd Law.

It is their fourth consecutive number one LP following Absolution, Black Holes and Revelations and The Resistance.

Mumford & Sons drop one place to two with Babel, while Pink stays at three with The Truth About Love.

The Killers also stay at four with Battle Born, while Emeli Sandé climbs back up two to five with Our Version of Events.

The Overtones enter at six with their second album Higher. Electric Light Orchestra land at ten with All Over the World: The Very Best Of.

Mumford & Sons beat Green Day to top UK album chart

Mumford & Sons have topped the UK album chart with Babel.

The folk band’s second studio LP has become the fastest-selling album of 2012 so far, shifting 159,000 copies in its first week. They surpass the previous record of 117,000, set by Lana Del Rey.

Green Day settle for second place with their latest album ¡Uno!, which was outsold by over three copies to one.

Pink falls one place to three with The Truth About Love, while last week’s chart-toppers The Killers fall three to four with Battle Born.

Britain’s Got Talent runners-up Jonathan & Charlotte score a new entry at five with their debut album Together.

Deadmau5 enters at six with new album >album title goes here<, while Lucy Rose scores a debut hit album at 13 with Like I Used To.

The Killers score fourth UK No.1 album with ‘Battle Born’

The Killers have secured their fourth number one album in the UK with Battle Born.

The band’s fourth studio album became the third-fastest seller of 2012 so far, after Lana Del Rey’s Born To Die and Emeli Sandé’s Our Version of Events, shifting 94,000 copies in the past week.

Pink sold just under 80,000 copies of her latest LP The Truth About Love to enter at number two.

The Script fall one place to three with #3, while last week’s chart-toppers The xx fall three to four with Coexist. Emeli Sandé is a non-mover at five.

Michael Jackson’s posthumous 25th anniversary edition of Bad enters at six.

Coldplay’s long-runner Mylo Xyloto drops three to seven, with Bob Dylan’s latest The Tempest falling five to eight.

Carly Rae Jepsen’s debut album Kiss is a new entry at nine. Plan B is a non-mover at ten with his iLL Manors soundtrack.

The xx outsell The Script to earn first UK No.1 album with ‘Coexist’

The xx have scored their first UK number one album with Coexist.

The UK band’s second studio album reached the top spot by just over 5,000 copies, beating their debut album’s peak of number three.

The Script enter in the runner-up spot with their third LP #3, while its lead track ‘Hall of Fame’ climbs to number one in the singles chart.

Bob Dylan follows at three with his 35th studio album The Tempest.

Coldplay rise 16 places to number four with Mylo Xyloto following their headline cperformance at the London 2012 Paralympics closing ceremony last week. Emeli Sandé falls one with Our Version of Events to complete the top five.

The Vaccines drop five from last week’s top spot to six with Come of Age, followed by Beacon by Two Door Cinema Club at seven.

Joe McElderry scores his third Top 10 album, with Here’s What I Believe entering at eight.

Pet Shop Boys’ 11th studio album Elysium is a new entry at nine. Mercury Prize nominee iLL Manors by Plan B drops four to ten.

David Guetta’s 2.0 edition of Nothing But the Beat is new at 13, while Billy Talent land at 23 with new album Dead Silence.

The Vaccines claim first album No.1

The Vaccines have earned their first UK number one album with Come of Age.

The band’s second LP outsold its nearest rival by just 11,000 copies, having only been ahead by 5,000 copies midweek.

Two Door Cinema Club enter in second place with Beacon, which is a massive leap compared to their first LP Tourist History, which peaked at 24 in 2010.

Rita Ora drops from last week’s top spot to three with Ora, followed by 2012’s current bestseller Our Version of Events by Emeli Sandé.

Ronan Keating enters in fifth place with his latest album Fires.

Plan B climbs up one place to six with iLL Manors, with Paloma Faith dropping two to seven with Fall to Grace.

Mark Knopfler enters in eight place with his latest LP Privateering. Of Monsters and Men drop six spots to nine with My Head is an Animal.

Scouting for Girls land at ten with their third studio album The Light Between Us, while Matchbox Twenty score their highest-charting album in the UK to date with North, landing at 14.

Milk enter at 31 with Tales from the Thames Delta, followed by Cat Power’s Sun at 33.

Rita Ora earns debut No.1 album with ‘Ora’

Rita Ora has landed straight at number one with her debut album Ora.

The ‘RIP’ singer continued her chart-topping streak by knocking Emeli Sandé into the runner-up’s spot.

However, Sandé’s Our Version of Events has now become the best-selling album of 2012 so far, overtaking Adele’s mammoth-seller 21.

Of Monsters and Men’s debut LP My Head is an Animal lands at number three, following the success of single ‘Little Talks’.

Elbow’s B-side compilation Dead in the Boot enters in fourth place. Paloma Faith falls three to five with Fall to Grace.

The Black Keys climb one spot to six with El Camino, while Plan B leaps ten places with his soundtrack to iLL Manors at seven.

Fun. leap a whopping 27 places to eight with debut album Some Nights. Ed Sheeran drops three to nine with +, and Rihanna slips two to ten with Talk That Talk.

Emeli Sandé hangs on to album No.1 with ‘Our Version of Events’

Emeli Sandé has stayed on top of the UK album chart for the second week running.

Our Version of Events has now been at the summit for a total of five weeks in 2012.

The LP has now sold over 647,000 copies, and is just over 6,000 behind Adele’s 21 in the best-seller list so far this year.

Paloma Faith is also a non-mover at two with Fall to Grace.

Bloc Party’s latest album Four is this week’s highest new entry at three. The Darkness score their second UK Top 10 album with Hot Cakes at four.

Jessie Ware’s debut LP Devotion enters at five.

The Black Keys’ El Camino climbs a massive 43 places to its highest position to date at seven.

Emeli Sandé reclaims No.1 UK album

Emeli Sandé has returned to number one on the UK album Chart with Our Version of Events.

The singer, who performed at the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony last Sunday (August 12), is now on course to overtake Adele as the biggest-selling album of 2012 so far.

Her debut LP is just 26,000 copies behind Adele’s 21 – originally released in 2011 – in year-to-date sales.

Elsewhere on the chart, Paloma Faith’s Fall to Grace climbs three places to number two, while Ed Sheeran, who also appeared at the closing ceremony, rises to number three with +.

Amy Macdonald is up 13 places to number four with Life in a Beautiful Light, just ahead of Maroon 5’s Overexposed at five.

Britain’s Got Talent star Ryan O’Shaughnessy scores this week’s highest new entry with his self-titled debut, which lands at number nine, followed by Spector at number 12 with Enjoy it While it Lasts.

The Spice Girls’ Greatest Hits climbs 146 places to number 18, Elbow’s The Seldom Seen Kid is up 133 places to number six, and Kate Bush’s The Whole Story is up 71 to number 21 after also featuring at the Olympics closing ceremony.
