Jake Bugg beats Leona Lewis to score debut No.1 album

Jake Bugg has soared to the top of the UK album chart with his self-titled debut.

The 18-year-old singer-songwriter entered straight at the top and knocked Babel by Mumford & Sons down to the runner-up spot.

Leona Lewis’s third studio album Glassheart entered at three, having been at number two in the midweeks.

Muse drop one place to four with former number one The 2nd Law, while Rebecca Ferguson’s repackaged version of Heaven enters at five.

Bat for Lashes enters at six with her latest LP The Haunted Man, just one place lower than her previous album Two Suns.

Art Garfunkel achieves his first solo album Top 10 placing in 32 years with his The Singer compilation at ten.

Folk group Bellowhead enter at 16 with Broadside, with jazz singer Diana Krall landing at 21 with Glad Rag Doll. Steely Dan’s Donald Fagen scores his biggest UK album since 1993 with Sunken Condos.

Italian monk Alessandro Brustenghi is new at 28 with Voice from Assisi, also topping the UK classical chart.
