Sunday, May 16th, 2010

ImageRoll Deep have beaten Jason Derulo to claim the number one spot in this week’s UK singles chart.

‘Ridin’ Solo’ jumped a massive ten places, but was unable to beat the grime crew, who fended off competition to stay at number one with ‘Good Times’.

Elsewhere, Usher and Aggro Santos finished in third and fifth place respectively, despite more positive midweek positions.

Among three entries in the top ten was Edward Mayo, who slotted in at an impressive fourth place, while Plan B fell three slots to number six.

Fyfe Dangerfield’s cover of Billy Joel’s 1977 song ‘She’s Always A Woman’, which was helped by its presence on John Lewis TV ads, debuted at number seven.

Alexandra Burke rose eight places to number eight, ahead of Glee’s cover of Bonnie Tyler’s power ballad ‘Total Eclipse Of The Heart’.

Kelis was a non-mover in tenth place, while Taio Cruz’s ‘Dirty Picture’ moved out of the top ten for the first time after nine weeks, settling for 11.

'Iron Man 2' scores UK box office No. 1

Iron Man 2 has debuted in first place at the UK box office.

The Robert Downey Jr-led blockbuster, based on the Marvel Comics superhero, pulls in £7.6 million over the weekend to easily claim the top spot ahead of How To Train Your Dragon. The total is £2 million up on the opening UK gross for Iron Man 2‘s 2008 predecessor.

The second Iron Man is one of a trio of new entries in the chart, the others being Miley Cyrus’s The Last Song (number four), her first effort outside the Hannah Montana brand, and Bollywood picture Housefull (number ten).

Clash Of The Titans and Kick-Ass are the biggest fallers, sliding to numbers five and eight respectively, while Roman Polanski’s The Ghost continues to perform strongly in the UK. The political thriller loses less than £100,000 in box office takings from last week to secure seventh spot.

Lady GaGa 'refuses to wear casual clothes'

Lady GaGa has declared that she would never be caught wearing casual clothes.

The ‘Telephone’ singer revealed that she is left unimpressed by stars who wear extravagant costumes on stage but choose to dress down in day-to-day life.

“I think you should look nice all the time,” she told OK. “When I meet celebrities and they’re in casual clothes, I’m always like, ‘Whaaat?’ I don’t mean to be judgmental, but it would do them better to be who they really are, all the time.

“This is really who I am all the time. When I get out of a car and there are 30 fans waiting for me, I know I’m dressed the way I should be. There’s a reason they have that emotional reaction.”
