Government responds to ‘MOH’ ban call

Gaming Preview: Medal Of Honor Multiplayer

The Government has responded to defence secretary Liam Fox’s call to ban Medal Of Honor.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport has distanced itself from Fox’s comments made earlier today, labelling it a “personal viewpoint” and backing the rating certificate given to the game.

“Dr Fox was expressing a personal view and we understand why some people might find the subject matter of the game offensive,” read a statement issued to Eurogamer.

“There is a ratings system in place which exists to categorise games appropriately. In this case the game in question is rated 18 so should only be sold to, and played by, adults.

“There is a clear choice for consumers which they can exercise when making decisions about purchasing video games.”

Roll Deep 'Green Light'

Roll Deep have emerged the victors of a close chart battle with Eminem & Rihanna for this week’s number one single.

‘Green Light’ is the London-based grime collective’s second track to reach the top of the UK charts, after their previous release Good Times’ achieved the same feat back in April.

ITV confirms ‘Farewell The Bill’ special

Thursday, August 19th, 2010
The Bill Final Day

ITV has confirmed that it will broadcast a documentary looking back at The Bill on the night the police drama comes to an end.

The long-running show was axed in March after a fall in ratings following a timeslot change and last year’s revamp.

The Sun Hill-based drama’s final episode, titled ‘Respect’, will air at the end of month and will be followed by one-hour special Farewell The Bill.

The special promises to take a look back at the show’s history and go behind the scenes as the cast and crew film the final two-parter.

Castmembers including Alex Walkinshaw (Smithy), Simon Rouse (Spt Jack Meadows) and Chris Simmons (DC Mickey Webb) will “talk exclusively” about their time on the show.

Talking about the final episode, series producer Tim Key tells the programme: “We wanted to do something that celebrated what The Bill has always been about, ordinary people wearing a uniform and taking responsibility for society, this is what The Bill has always done.”

Farewell The Bill will also see two of the show’s longest running ex-cast members, Graham Cole (PC Tony Stamp) and Trudie Goodwin (Sgt June Ackland), pay one final visit to the set and discuss some of the drama’s most memorable storylines.

The final episode of The Bill and Farewell The Bill air on Tuesday, August 31 at 9pm and 10:35pm respectively on ITV1.

Sunday, August 8th, 2010
Ne-Yo, Beautiful Monster

Ne-Yo has landed straight in at the top of the UK singles chart with ‘Beautiful Monster’.

The song’s success gives the R&B star his third number one, and pushes the total amount of records he has sold in the UK throughout his career past the two million milestone.

Flo Rida & David Guetta were the unlucky losers in the close battle for the top spot, settling in at two after Ne-Yo sold just 10% more copies than ‘Club Can’t Handle Me’.

Last week’s number one, ‘All Time Low’ by The Wanted, dropped four places to five, one spot ahead of last week’s second-highest new entry, ‘Billionaire’ by Travie McCoy.

Elsewhere in the top 10, the premiere of the long-awaited video for Eminem & Rihanna’s ‘Love The Way You Lie’ this week failed to transfer into a chart gain, as the song remains in fourth place seven weeks after its debut.

Meanwhile, The Hoosiers achieved the second-highest new entry of the week with comeback single ‘Choices’ landing at 11, ahead of Jason Derulo’s ‘What If’, which climbs three places to 12 and ‘I Need Air’ from Magnetic Man, which tumbles to 13 in its second week on the chart.
