Detroit: Become Human has edged out State of Decay 2 in the battle of the first-party exclusives, with Sony’s PS4-only interactive adventure ending up as the best-selling game at UK retailers last week. It’s also the tenth PS-exclusive to top the UK charts since the start of last year (can you name the other nine?)

State of Decay 2 debuted in a respectable second place, selling roughly 4,000 copies less than Detroit managed, although it’s hard to say how much its inclusion in the Game Pass has eaten into its launch week sales. Who knows what might have happened otherwise…

Elsewhere Dark Souls Remastered also debuted inside the top three, but that’s it in terms of new games in the top ten. Space Hulk: Deathwing also launched last week, but was only able to squeeze inside the top twenty (where it debuted at no.19).

God of War has been a huge success for Sony so far, and the trend seems to be continuing, as it has registered yet another number one placement on the top of the UK charts as of last week, holding off competition from FIFA, Hyrule Warriors, and more to stay solid for another week.

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition for Switch is the only new entry in the top 10 in fact, sitting at number three, just above Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, another Wii U game that has been repurposed and repackaged for the current hybrid console.

Sony’s God of War had an incredibly strong debut in the UK charts, as well as elsewhere for that matter, and now Kratos has taken the top spot again in this week’s charts, having dipped only 35% in terms of sales week-on-week, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz.

Yakuza 6, however, plummeted from number three to 39, having an 85% decline in sales, while Far Cry 5 has been much more consistent, remaining just behind God of War in second place. Replacing Yakuza at number three, however, is the new entry of Nintendo Labo: Variety Pack, with the Robot pack falling to number 20.

This week’s GfK Chart-Track top ten sees God of War taking the top spot at UK retail. The PlayStation 4 exclusive is the fastest selling title in the franchise’s history (retail only), with the game shifting 35% more physical units in its first week than the previous best, God of War III in 2010. It has already sold better than Sony’s other big exclusive of the year, Shadow of the Colossus.

Far Cry 5 has thus been knocked down into second place. Another new release takes third position, namely Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, which is also the biggest launch for a Yakuza game. You can see the full top ten below:

This week the GfK Chart-Track top ten is a rather static affair, this following a slow week for UK retailers which saw no new games debut in this week’s top ten. Far Cry 5 is once again the most popular cult in town, and that’s despite a 45% drop when compared to last week. FIFA 18 stays second in the league, again despite a 7% drop in sales. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe zoomed into this week’s top three, once again despite a drop in sales (in this case, it was a 17% slump). According to Games Industry, a game would have had to have sold just 3,500 copies to make it into this week’s top ten, which you can see in full below.

Far Cry 5 is once again the best-selling game in the UK at retailers up and down the country, and it held on to top spot despite a 69% drop in week-on-week sales. In fact, the top ten is largely the same as it was this time last week, with FIFA 18 and Sea of Thieves retaining their podium finishes. The most significant change is Forza Motorsport 7’s rise into the top five, its resurgence at retail driven by promotional price cuts. Here’s the GfK Chart-Track top ten in full:

Far Cry 5 has marched straight to the top of the UK charts after the strongest launch in the history of the series (in the UK, at least). Taking advantage of a relatively meager lineup of new titles during the springtime, Ubisoft’s game has enjoyed a strong critical and commercial release, so much so that the fifth core entry in the series is the best-selling launch in ‘week 13’ ever, displacing previous record holder Bioshock: Infinite. Not bad going.

Further down the charts we see a little movement, with Xbox (and Windows 10 PC) exclusive Sea of Thieves sinking down to third, while A Way Out is stuck in the top ten, albeit it down to seventh thanks to a 61% drop in sales. Detective Pikachu enjoyed a much stronger second week according to Games Industry, although not strong enough for a top ten finish (it’s up to 15th from 23rd).

In general, the top ten this week sees strong sales for a number of big IPs that were discounted in time for the Easter holidays:

This week’s charts have now landed, and it’ll be no surprise for many given the previous months of hype and testing periods that Microsoft and Rare’s Sea of Thieves has sailed into the top spot on its debut week, meaning that it has triumphed over another three debuts in the top four.

Just below Rare’s pirate adventure is EA’s co-operative game A Way Out, closely followed by Bandai Namco’s stellar RPG Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, and the return of Assassin’s Creed Rogue in the form of a remaster, meaning that all these new games have been particularly popular with gamers.

Below that Burnout Paradise Remastered has slipped to 5, while the usual suspects like FIFA 18 and Grand Theft Auto V share the rest of the success in the top 10 with Nintendo’s mascot Mario and EA’s UFC 3. For the full top 10, however, you can check below.

Football Manager Touch 2018 has been rated in Korea, as grabbed at ResetEra. The game showed up at the classification system today, with a release date TBA in 2018.

It’s worth noting though that, while this isn’t the full package Sports Interactive and Sega release on PC every year, neither is it the cut-down version the company launches on mobile phones, but something much closer to the former, aimed at portable devices with a touchscreen. In fact, Football Manager Touch 2018 released at the end of 2017 on PC (Windows/Mac/Linux) and tablets (iOS/Android), for £22 (€30) (it’s currently discounted on Steam and costs half of that), including several additional online modes compared to the mobile game. Sega hasn’t made the Nintendo Switch version official as of yet, but it’d also be the first FM on console this generation.

Burnout Paradise Remastered is a game we enjoyed a lot, as you can tell from our review, and it seems to have garnered a lot of popularity as well, since it has debuted at number one in this week’s UK charts, beating out the debut of Kirby Star Allies to get there, which sits just behind at number two.

The rest of the top 10 is peppered with household names like FIFA 18, Grand Theft Auto V, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, so in terms of surprises we’re pretty much let off this week, aside from perhaps UFC 3 which sits at number 8. For the whole top 10 though, take a look down below.

It should be noted that Kirby Star Allies has still had a very successful start, as GamesIndustry.biz reports that the game is the fastest-selling boxed Kirby release ever – out of the 19 retail releases since 1996 – and is in fact sold out in most UK retailers.
