‘The Dark Knight Rises’ rated 12A by BBFC, running time confirmed

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012

The Dark Knight Rises has been rated 12A by the British Board of Film Classification.

Christopher Nolan’s third and final Batman film was given the rating for “moderate violence”, according to the BBFC’s website.

The same rating was given to previous instalments Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, in 2005 and 2008 respectively.

The movie has been given the equivalent rating of PG-13 in the US.

A 12A rating means that the film is generally only suitable for those aged 12 or over, although children below this age may see the film if accompanied by an adult who judges it to be suitable for them.

The Dark Knight Rises has also had its running time confirmed at 164 minutes. It is the longest Batman movie yet, outrunning Batman Begins (140 minutes) and The Dark Knight (152 minutes).
