Pharrell Williams has returned to number one on the UK Top 40 with ‘Happy’.

The track – which is nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars – begins a fourth non-consecutive week at the top of the chart, after hitting number one on three separate occasions this year.

‘Happy’ also becomes the star’s third million seller in the last 12 months, following on from the successes of Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ and Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’.

Speaking to OfficialCharts.com, Williams said: “I am beyond grateful for the amount of love and support I’ve received in response to ‘Happy’ – it is overwhelming.

“I’ve always respected the great taste of the UK, and I’m honoured to have my music embraced in such a positive way. I am so thankful.”

Sam Smith’s ‘Money on My Mind’ slips to number two on this week’s countdown, while former chart-topper ‘Rather Be’ from Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne is a non-mover at three.

Katy Perry enters the top five for the first time with ‘Dark Horse’, which is this week’s number four. A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera’s ‘Say Something’ is at five.

Tiësto scores this week’s highest new entry with ‘Red Lights’ at six, while Foxes has won her first Top 10 hit with ‘Let Go For Tonight’ at seven.

Zedd and Hayley Williams are down three places to number eight with their collaboration ‘Stay The Night’.

John Legend leaps 20 places to number nine with ‘All Of Me’, which is taken from his fourth studio album Love in the Future.

Paloma Faith’s new single ‘Can’t Rely On You’ is a new entry at ten. The singer scores her second Top 10 hit, despite claiming that the single has received little support from the major radio stations.

American Authors climb 20 places on this week’s chart to number 17 with ‘Best Day of My Life’, while Ellie Goulding’s ‘Goodness Gracious’ becomes her eighth Top 20 hit, climbing ten places to 16.

Meanwhile, Kid Ink and Chris Brown are up 40 places to number 35 with ‘Show Me’, and Goulding’s ‘Burn’ is down three to 38.

Sam Smith has scored his first solo UK number one single with ‘Money on My Mind’.

‘Money on My Mind’ becomes the fastest-selling debut single from a Brits Critics’ Choice winner, as well as the first debut single from a Critic’s Choice’ winner to go straight to number one.

Smith’s track ends Clean Bandit’s four-week stint at the top of the charts after selling 108,000 copies in its first seven days on sale.

Speaking to OfficialCharts.com about the success of ‘Money on My Mind’, Smith said: “It feels unbelievable, man! It’s completely overwhelming and I don’t actually know what to do with myself! It feels amazing.”

It is Smith’s second number one in the UK following the success of Naughty Boy’s ‘La La La’, on which he featured last year.

“When La La La went to Number 1, I wrote quite a lot of that song and it was kind of just as much mine as it was Naughty Boy’s, but having my own song at Number 1 is just absolutely incredible,” he added.

Pharrell Williams is at number two with ‘Happy’ following his show-closing performance of the the song at the Brit Awards earlier this week.

Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne are down to number three with ‘Rather Be’, while Christina Aguilera wins her 24th hit on the UK Top 40 with her collaboration on A Great Big World’s ‘Say Something’.

Zedd and Paramore’s Hayley Williams complete this week’s top five with ‘Stay The Night’.

Katy Perry is at six with ‘Dark Horse’ after her Egyptian-themed performance of the track at the Brits, while David Guetta and Skylar Grey are at seven with ‘Shot Me Down’.

Pitbull and Ke$ha’s ‘Timber’ and Katy B’s ‘Crying For No Reason’ both spend another week in the Top 10, at eight and nine respectively.

DJ Fresh, Jay Fay and Ms Dynamite complete this week’s top ten with ‘Dibby Dibby Sound’.

Tegan and Sara make their UK Top 40 debut with ‘Everything Is Awesome’ from The Lego Movie, which is this week’s number 17.

Bastille and Rudimental’s Brit Awards performance of ‘Pompeii’ and ‘Waiting All Night’ is a new entry at number 21 after just three days on sale.

Meanwhile, Beyoncé climbs 26 places to number 23 with ‘XO’ following her performance at the ceremony.

Best British Female winner Ellie Goulding has three songs in the Top 40 this week. ‘How Long Will I Love You’ and ‘Goodness Gracious’ are at 25 and 26 respectively, while ‘Burn’ re-enters the chart at number 35.

Clean Bandit have scored a fourth week at UK number one with their single ‘Rather Be’.

The song, which features vocals from Jess Glynne, held on to the top slot despite strong competition.

Although ‘Stay The Night’ by Zedd and Hayley Williams was in at Number 1 on the midweek charts, Clean Bandit managed to overtake them, selling 8,000 more copies.

Elsewhere, Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’ falls one place to Number 3, while David Guetta and Skylar Grey enter at Number 4 with ‘Shot Me Down’ – the second highest-charting new entry of the week.

Katy B’s song ‘Crying For No Reason’ also rises two places, making it into the Top Five, as her second longplayer Little Red tops the Official UK Album Chart.

Meanwhile, Californian producer Le Youth and American rapper and model Dominique Young Unique have gained their first UK Top 20 hit. ‘Dance With Me’, which features a sample of TLC’s ‘No Scrubs’, makes it into the standings at number 11.

Another artist making his chart debut this week is Vine star Dapper Laughs, who enters at Number 15 with ‘Proper Moist’.
