Meghan Trainor holds on to number one UK single

Meghan Trainor has claimed the joint-longest UK number one single of 2014 so far.

‘All About That Bass’, which is spending its fourth week running in the top spot, ties with Clean Bandit’s ‘Rather Be’ as the longest number one of the year.

Ed Sheeran takes the second best-selling single of the week with ‘Thinking Out Loud’, which now also has over 1.2 million streams online.

‘Bump and Grind 2014’ by Waze & Odyssey debuts at number three, while Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj’s ‘Bang Bang’ is at number four.

Taylor Swift completes this week’s top five, with ‘Shake It Off’.

Fuse ODG’s ‘Tina’ debuts at number nine, as Sam Smith climbs two places to number ten with ‘I’m Not the Only One’.

Smith’s former number one ‘Stay with Me’ also stays in the chart at 15.

Maroon 5’s ‘Animals’ moves from number 60 to 32, as Taylor Swift’s ‘Welcome to New York’ scrapes into the top forty and debuts at number 39.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles triumphs at UK box office

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has topped the UK box office with takings over £4 million.

The Michael Bay-produced adaptation starring Megan Fox brought in a weekend gross of £4.78m.

Gone Girl drops to second place after two weeks at the top, with £2.36m. Annabelle stays at three with £1.46m, while The Maze Runner drops two to four with £1.45m.

The latest Nicholas Sparks film The Best of Me opens in fifth place with takings of over £636,000.

Robert Downey Jr’s The Judge enters at nine with £420,720, followed by Steve Coogan film Northern Soul at ten with £278,829.

FIFA 15 tops chart for fourth week

FIFA 15 has made it four weeks at the top of the all-format gaming chart.

Despite a 35% drop in weekly sales, EA’s football simulation equals the four consecutive weeks at the top achieved by FIFA 13.

It charts above two new releases, the highest-placed of which is The Evil Within in second.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel debuts at three, above Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Forza Horizon 2.

F1 2014 is this week’s final new entry, charting below Destiny and Driveclub at nine.

Meghan Trainor holds on to UK No.1 single

Meghan Trainor has claimed the UK’s longest-running female number one single of 2014.

‘All About That Bass’ is spending its third week at the top of the singles chart, which also makes the debut single the second longest-running number one of the entire year.

Only Clean Bandit’s ‘Rather Be’ has enjoyed a longer run at number one, topping the chart for four consecutive weeks at the beginning of the year.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ climbs two places to number two, while One Direction claim this week’s highest new entry with ‘Steal My Girl’ at number three.

‘Thinking Out Loud’ by Ed Sheeran takes number four, as Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj round off the top five with ‘Bang Bang’.

The Vamps’ ‘Oh Cecilia’, featuring Shawn Mendes, enters the chart at number nine, while Eminem and Sia’s ‘Guts Over Fear’ debuts at ten.

‘Bullit’ by Watermat is new at 15, as Wilkinson’s ‘Dirty Love’ featuring Talay Riley enters at 20.

Krishane claims his first top 40 single with ‘Drunk and Incapable’, featuring Melissa Steel, at number 27.

Charli XCX’s ‘Break the Rules’ gives the singer her fourth top 40 track at number 35.

Gone Girl holds off The Maze Runner at UK box office

Gone Girl has topped the UK box office for the second consecutive weekend.

The David Fincher-directed thriller, starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, earned £3 million to secure first place ahead of YA adaptation The Maze Runner.

Gone Girl has now earned more than £9 million from UK cinemas alone, adding to the $130 million the movie has earned from cinemas worldwide.

Annabelle and One Direction concert film Where We Are are both new entries in the UK chart at numbers three and four respectively.

Dracula Untold rounds out the top five.

Elsewhere, Hugh Grant’s new romantic comedy The Rewrite is the only other new release to enter the chart. The film earned £324,889 to come in at number nine.

FIFA 15 wins chart battle with Alien Isolation

FIFA 15 remains the all-format number one for a third week, seeing off the likes of Alien Isolation in the process.

Despite a 60% drop in weekly sales, EA’s football simulation manages to once again top the charts, selling the majority of its copies (33%) on Xbox 360.

Alien Isolation enters the chart in second, shifting Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Forza Horizon 2 down to third and fourth.

Despite its online issues, the retail edition of Driveclub makes its PS4 debut in fifth.

A new release double-header of Skylanders Trap Team and NBA 2K15 enter at seven and eight, above Super Smash Bros and Minecraft: PlayStation Edition.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition is this week’s final new entry at 13, charting between Disney Infinity 2.0 and Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare.

Meghan Trainor remains number one in UK singles chart

Meghan Trainor has claimed the UK’s number one single for the second week running.

‘All About That Bass’ remains in the top spot, while Nicki Minaj, Jessie J and Ariana Grande’s ‘Bang Bang’ stays at number two.

Nicki Minaj’s ‘Anaconda’ also debuts in the chart in third place, as Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ comes fourth and is this week’s most-streamed track.

‘Don’t Tell ‘Em’ by Jeremih is another new entry at number five, while Ella Henderson’s ‘Glow’ places at number seven.

LuvBug enter the chart at number 13 with ‘Resonance’, and Usher’s ‘She Came To Give It To You’ debuts at 16.

BBC Music’s cover of The Beach Boys’ ‘God Only Knows’ completes this week’s new entries, debuting at number 20 after just four days on sale.

Featuring artists such as Elton John and One Direction, all proceeds of the track will go to Children in Need.

Gone Girl has debuted in at number one in the UK box office.

The mystery thriller took £4.1 million in its first weekend, beating Dracula Untold to the top spot.

Denzel Washington’s The Equalizer claims the third spot, while The Boxtrolls falls one place to four.

Rosamund Pike and David Tennant’s What We Did On Our Holiday rounds off the top five.

FIFA 15 holds Shadow of Mordor off top of chart

FIFA 15 has retained its place at the top of the all-format gaming chart.

The annual football simulation remains number one despite a 70% drop in week-on-week sales.

It is followed by a trio of new releases, starting with Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor in second, which enjoys the biggest launch for a game based on The Lord of the Rings.

Forza Horizon 2 enters in third, while Super Smash Bros debuts in fourth above a former number one in Destiny.

Elsewhere, the PlayStation edition of Minecraft climbs three places to six after a 176% increase in sales thanks to the release of the PS4 version at retail.

Meghan Trainor’s ‘All About That Bass’ claims UK number one

Meghan Trainor has claimed the UK’s number one single with ‘All About That Bass’.

The song climbs 32 places from last week, also becoming one of the fastest-selling singles of the year, only beaten by Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne’s ‘Rather Be’.

Trainor said: “It feels unreal! I still don’t believe it! Especially on my first single. It’s incredible!”

Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj fall to number two with ‘Bang Bang’, while ‘Shake It Off’ by Taylor Swift completes the top three.

Sigma featuring Paloma Faith are at number 4 with ‘Changing’, and ‘Blame’ by Calvin Harris and John Newman is at number five.

The Magician enters the chart at seven with ‘Sunlight’ featuring Olly Alexander, while Labrinth is at number 11 with ‘Let It Be’.

Ella Eyre takes number 12 with ‘Comeback’, and Gorgon City’s ‘Unmissable’ makes the top 20 at number 19.

Jessie Ware’s ‘Say You Love Me’ enters the chart at number 22, while Jamie T climbs 12 places with ‘Zombie’ at number 36.
