Calvin Harris and Sam Smith have reclaimed the Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart.

The pair’s track, Promises, chalks up a sixth stint at the top after being ousted last week by Dave’s Funky Friday ft. Fredo, which slips to Number 2, finishing a very close 1,026 combined sales behind. Funky Friday was the most streamed song of the week, with 7.13 million plays over the last seven days.

Promises is Calvin’s tenth UK Number 1 single and Sam’s seventh.

New entries and high climbers

Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper’s Shallow – taken from the Number 1 cast recording of A Star Is Born – lifts two places to Number 4 to become Gaga’s highest charting single in seven years, after 2011’s Number 3-peaking Born This Way.

Little Mix claim this week’s highest new entry with Woman, landing at Number 5 after leading the way earlier in the week. The track is the first taster of their upcoming fifth album LM5.

US rapper Kodak Black makes a strong debut with Zeze ft. Travis Scott and Offset, new at 11, as does reggaeton star Bad Bunny with MIA – his Drake collaboration enters at 13.

Further down, there are big climbs for French Montana’s No Stylist ft. Drake, up from 29 to 19, and DJ Snake’s mega collaboration Taki Taki ft. Selena Gomez, Cardi B and Ozuna zooms 12 spots to Number 21.

Finally, Jess Glynne’s Thursday – taken from her newly-crowned Number 1 album Always In Between – debuts at 24, and UK rapper Cadet & rising star Deno Driz make their Official Chart debut with Advice, up five places to Number 40.

Congratulations to South London rapper and musician Dave, who lands straight in at Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart with Funky Friday.

The independently-released track, which features Fredo, debuts at the top after notching up 6.7 million audio and video streams over the past week – and knocks Calvin Harris & Sam Smith’s Promises to Number 2 after five weeks at the summit.

Speaking from a recording studio in London, Dave told OfficialCharts.com: “I’m speechless right now. I just want to say thank you to everyone that’s helped us get this Number 1. I can’t even explain to you how grateful I am.”

Dave’s Number 1 debut is a big moment for British rap music. Of its impact on the Official Chart this week, SB.TV founder Jamal Edwards said: “I feel very fortunate to be alive and living in this age where stuff like this is happening. It’s a very monumental time for British music and this is definitely one of these moments that we will remember for a very long time. I’ve seen Dave & Fredo’s rise from the ground up and I feel like there’s so much more to come, very exciting indeed. Making history for real!”

Elsewhere in this week’s Top 10, Rita Ora’s Let You Love Me lifts a spot to enter the Top 5 at 5, and Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper’s Shallow zooms seven places to Number 6. The climb earns Gaga her first Top 10 single in five years. Two more songs from the A Star Is Born soundtrack enter the Top 40 this week: I’ll Never Love Again lands at 35 and Always Remember Us This Way bows at 39.

Eminem’s Venom, taken from his Number 1 album Kamikaze, is new at 16 following the release of its music video last week, while there is a big climb for MK’s Back & Forth ft. Jonas Blue and Becky Hill, vaulting 16 places to 21.

Further down, US singer Halsey lands her first UK Top 40 entry and a headline artist, entering at 24 with Without Me, Drip Too Hard by Lil Baby & Gunna jumps 22 spots to 28, and Stoopid by 6ix9ine ft. Bobby Shmurda is new at 34.

Finally, viral sensation Baby Shark returns to the Top 40 this week, rebounding 15 places to Number 36

It’s a fair bet Calvin Harris and Sam Smith will be a little happier than Marshmello and Bastille today – Calvin and Sam’s collaboration Promises has seen off all challengers to remain at Number 1.

It’s a fifth week at the top for Calvin and Sam, with a lead of 12,000 combined sales, but we can’t write off helmet-wearing producer Marshmello – real name Christopher Comstock – just yet. Happier, his team-up with British band Bastille, edges up two places to Number 2, giving Marshmello a new UK personal best.

If Marshmello and Bastille make it next week, it will be a first chart-topper for both acts. Marshmello’s previous peak was Number 3 last November, with Silence, featuring Khalid. Bastille peaked at Number 2 twice, back in 2013, with Pompeii and Of The Night.

New entries and high climbers

Mark Ronson and Diplo’s Silk City project has gone Top 5 with Electricity featuring Dua Lipa, rising three slots to 4, while Rita Ora claims her 13th Top 10 as Let You Love Me leaps eight places to 6. This means Rita Ora now holds the Official Chart record for the British female solo artist with the most Top 10 singles.

Freya Ridings leaps 11 to score her first Top 10 with Lost Without You at 9, and following his Strictly Come Dancing performance, George Ezra rebounds six with former Number 1 Shotgun, now at 10.

Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis is up seven slots to 11 with Be Alright, while Panic! at the Disco climb to 12 with High Hopes – their highest ever chart position in the UK.

Lady Gaga lands her 20th Top 40 hit with Shallow, a duet with Bradley Cooper, her co-star in A Star is Born, new at 13; while Sigala, Ella Eyre, Meghan Trainor and French Montana zoom 16 places to Number 17 with Just Got Paid; and Labrinth, Sia and Diplo’s supergroup LSD break the Top 20 with Thunderclouds advancing five slots to 18.

Lil Wayne scores two new entries on this week’s Top 40 following the release of album Tha Carter V: Mona Lisa featuring Kendrick Lamar is new at 21, while XXXTentacion collaboration Don’t Cry goes straight in at 28.

US singer and songwriter Khalid leaps seven places to 24 with Better; while DJ Snake, Selena Gomez, Cardi B and Ozuna are new at 30 with Taki Taki; MK, Jonas Blue and Becky Hill break the Top 40, rising seven to 37; and Lizzy, Fredo, Young T and Bugsey are a re-entry at 39 with Ay Caramba.

There’s no breaking Calvin Harris and Sam Smith’s Promises – the duo have chalked up another week at the top of the Official Singles Chart.

The pair’s dance collaboration finished over 6,500 combined sales of nearest rival Eastside, from Benny Blanco and Halsey, to rule Number 1 for a fourth week, notching up 6.6 million plays across streaming services.

Calvin made chart history with Promises, his tenth Number 1 overall, and eighth of the decade, giving him more chart-toppers since 2010 than any other artist. Sam isn’t far behind: Promises is his seventh Number 1.

Elsewhere in the Top 5, the week’s most-streamed song from Kanye West and Lil Pump, I Love It, scored 7.32 million listens and holds firm at 3, while Marshello and Bastille’s Happier climbs a place to a new peak at 4.

New entries and climbers

Jess Glynne’s All I Am breaks the Top 10, advancing two slots to 9, while the week’s highest new entry is the posthumous collaboration between Lil Peep and XXXTentacion, Falling Down, in at 10. Co-written by ILoveMakonnen, Falling Down features a verse by XXXTentacion’s which was recorded after Lil Peep’s death as a tribute, only for XXXTentacion himself to pass away months later.

Eminem is new at 13 with Killshot, a response to Machine Gun Kelly’s diss track Rap Devil; Rita Ora is new at 14 with Let You Love Me; Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis’ Be Alright breaks the Top 20 at 18; while Freya Ridings’ Lost Without You reaches a new peak climbing five to 20.

French Montana is a new entry at 21 with No Stylist, featuring Drake; Khalid’s Better rockets 13 places to 31, while Mumford & Sons round off the new entries, starting at 40 with Guiding Light.

Calvin Harris and Sam Smith extend their reign at Number 1 to a third week on this week’s Official Singles Chart.

The pair’s collaboration Promises easily claims another week at the summit, just shy of 6,000 combined sales ahead of their closest competition Benny Blanco’s Eastside ft. Halsey & Khalid (2).

Promises was streamed 6.8 million times over the past week, and is Calvin’s tenth UK chart-topper and Sam’s seventh.

Elsewhere in this week’s Top 5, Marshmello’s Happier ft. Bastille lifts one place to 5 to earn the elusive producer/DJ his third Top 5 single and Bastille their fourth.

New entries and high climbers 

Two songs enter the Top 10 for the first time this week: club hit In My Mind by Dynoro & Gigi D’Agostino jumps six spots to Number 8, and Silk City (aka Mark Ronson and Diplo)’s Electricity ft. Dua Lipa hops five places to Number 10. The track is the first from the Silk City project to enter the Official Chart, while Dua claims her sixth Top 10 in the space of 18 months.

Machine Gun Kelly’s scathing diss track to Eminem, Rap Devil, zooms 16 rungs to Number 15, David Guetta’s Don’t Leave Me Alone moves up five places to enter the Top 20 at 18, and Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis lifts five places to 22 with his global breakthrough hit Be Alright.

Finally, two songs make their Top 40 debut this week: Jason Derulo notches up his nineteenth UK Top 40 single with Goodbye ft. David Guetta, Nick Minaj and Willy William, up ten spots to 33, and Sigala’s Just Got Paid ft. Ella Eyre, Meghan Trainor and French Montana vaults 14 to 37.

They can’t do golden rings, but they can do Official Number 1 Awards! Calvin Harris and Sam Smith have hit Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart with their collaboration Promises.

It’s a big one for Calvin: Promises is his tenth Top 10 single in the UK, which means he joins the ranks of double-digit chart-toppers like Elvis, Madonna, Take That, and the Beatles. For Sam Smith, it’s a seventh Number 1, drawing him level with artists like Michael Jackson, Jess Glynne, Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, and Elton.

And it doesn’t end there: Promises also gives Calvin Harris a new chart record: he’s now officially the act with the most Number 1 hits this decade, topping the charts eight times in the 2010s

Sam Smith, currently on tour in the US, told OfficialCharts.com: “I am so overwhelmed that Promises has got to Number 1 back home! Thank you to every single person who has supported this song. And thank you to Calvin for being such a legend. I can’t wait to be home soon. I miss my mum’s roast dinners desperately.”

Thanks to the surprise release of his tenth studio album Kamikaze, which crashes in at the top of the Official Albums Chart, Eminem dominates the Top 10, with three new entries. The Ringer goes in highest, at 4, while Lucky You featuring Joyner Lucas is new at 6, and Fall lands at 9.

Dance-pop supergroup LSD – comprising Labrinth, Sia, and Duplo – score for their first UK Top 40 together, as Thunderclouds rockets 25 places to 22, and Lost Without You, from singer-songwriter Freya Ridings rises seven slots to 26.

Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis jumps 17 places to enter the Top 40 for the first time at 35, while Beautiful, a collaboration from US stars Bazzi and Camila Cabello, rises six to enter at Number 36.

London rapper AJ Tracey scores his second UK Top 40 this week as LO(V/S)ER goes in at 38, and The 1975’s TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME returns to the top flight, rebounding six places to 40.

Benny Blanco’s Eastside heads north to Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart.

The US producer’s debut single climbs 3 to 1 for its seventh week on the chart with combined sales just shy of 50,000, including 5.8 million streams.

Benny is no stranger to the top of the charts, having co-written or produced 12 UK Number 1 singles, including Justin Bieber’s Love Yourself, Katy Perry’s I Kissed A Girl and Rihanna’s Diamonds.

It was a close race on this week’s Official Singles Chart; Calvin Harris & Sam Smith’s Promises finishes just 139 combined sales behind, jumping from 4 to Number 2. Last week’s chart-topper, George Ezra’s Shotgun, slips to 3.

Chicago rapper Juice Wrld lands his first UK Top 10 with Lucid Dreams, lifting one slot to 10 for its 14th week on the chart, and hovering just outside the Top 10 is Jess Glynne’s All I Am, up four spots to 12.

Three songs zoom into this week’s Top 20: dance DJs Dynoro & Gigi A’agostino vault 21 places to 15 with In My Mind, Marshmello & Bastille’s Happier climbs 15 rungs to 16, and David Guetta’s Don’t Leave Me Alone ft. Anne-Marie moves three to Number 20.

South Korean boy band sensation BTS claim this week’s highest new entry with Idol at Number 21 – the first ever song by a  K-pop group to enter the UK Top 40.

Further down, there are big climbers for Panic At The Disco’s High Hopes, up nine to 25, Hardy Caprio’s Best Life ft. One Acen jumps six spots to 26, and singer-songwriter Freya Ridings enters the Top 40 with Lost Without You, rising seven places to 36.

Finally, viral smash Baby Shark swims into the Top 40 for the first time, snapping up 28 places to Number 37.

George Ezra extends his run at Number 1 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart for a fourth week with Shotgun.

George’s summer anthem kept hold of the top spot with a lead of 3,000 combined chart sales and was the most streamed song of the week with 7 million plays across services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and YouTube.

Drake keeps a firm grip on Number 2 with In My Feelings, while Eastside by Benny Blanco, Halsey and Khalid rises one to Number 3. Calvin Harris & Sam Smith score the most downloaded track of the last seven days and the week’s highest new entry at Number 4 with Promises, while Loud Luxury advance one spot to complete the Top 5 with Body ft. Brando (5).

Persistence has paid off for George Ezra, who after four weeks of being stuck behind Drake, has returned to Number 1.

Originally a two-week chart-topper in early July, Shotgun is back at the top of the Official Singles Chart, pushing Drake’s In My Feelings down to Number 2.

The most streamed and downloaded song of the week, Shotgun is one of only four songs in the last two years to go back to Number 1, including Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You, Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee & Justin Bieber’s Despacito, and the song that knocked Shotgun from the top, Baddiel, Skinner & The Lightning Seeds’ Three Lions.

Elsewhere in the Top 5, DJ Khaled, Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper and Quavo hold at Number 3 with No Brainer, and Eastside by Benny Blanco, Halsey and Khalid leaps eight spots to Number 4.

There’s one more ascent in this week’s Top 10 as Loud Luxury rise two to Number 6 with Body ft. Brando, a new peak.

Jax Jones’ Ring Ring ft. Mabel and Rich the Kid hits a new high of 13 this week, one place ahead of Cheat Codes & Little Mix – Only You has recorded its best position to date at 14.

Big jumps are recorded for Dennis Lloyd’s Nevermind (19), Martin Garrix & Khalid’s Ocean (25), and B Young’s 079ME (28), plus Nicki Minaj records two songs in this week’s Top 40 from her newly-crowned Top 5 Queen album; Bed ft. Ariana Grande is this week’s highest climber, up 15 to Number 23, plus Barbie Dreams bows at 36.

There’s another new entry for David Guetta & Anne-Marie; Don’t Leave Me Alone becomes David’s 37th UK Top 40 single at Number 37.

We don’t know if Keke loves him, but the UK’s definitely does have the hots for Drake.

The Canadian rapper’s fifth UK chart-topper In My Feelings has scored a third week at Number 1, with a combined total of downloads, audio streams and video plays of 83,000. As a result, George Ezra’s former Number 1 Shotgun is in the runner-up position for the fourth week in a row.

In My Feelings is Drake’s landmark 40^th UK Top 40 hit, and the sixth Top 10 hit from his latest album Scorpion, one of only 16 albums to spawn six or more top flight hits.

DJ Khaled claims this week’s highest new entry at Number 4 with No Brainer ft. Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper and Quavo, JB’s 14^th Top 5 hit.

Tyga and Offset are just outside the Top 10 now with Taste, up four to Number 11, while two songs make their Top 20 debuts: Fefe by 6ix9ne, Nicki Minaj and Murda Beatz (17), and Loud Luxury advance seven slots with Body ft. Brando at Number 19.

Benny Blanco achieves this week’s highest climber with Eastside ft. Halsey and Khalid, up 17 places to Number 23, and finally, Ay Caramba by clothing brand Stay Flee Get Lizzy ft. Fredo, Young T and Bugsey debuts at Number 38.
