Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp’s Lone Ranger remake has begun filming in New Mexico.

The update of the Western classic has a budget of $215 million, and stars Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger. The movie will differ from the original material by making Hammer’s character the sidekick and Depp’s the lead.

Depp told Entertainment Weekly: “I remember watching it as a kid, with Jay Silverheels and Clayton Moore… I liked Tonto, even at that tender age, and knew Tonto was getting the unpleasant end of the stick here. That’s stuck with me.”

The 48-year-old actor said that he would like to “reinvent the relationship” between Tonto and The Lone Ranger, which played on Native American stereotypes in the original ’70s television show.

‘House’ to end this year, confirms Fox

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

House will not continue past its eighth season, show execs have confirmed.

Executive producers David Shore, Katie Jacobs and Hugh Laurie, who has previously hinted at the series end, revealed that the Fox medical drama will draw to a close later this year in a statement released Wednesday.

“The decision to end the show now, or ever, is a painful one, as it risks putting asunder hundreds of close friendships that have developed over the last eight years – but also because the show itself has been a source of great pride to everyone involved,” they said.

“The producers have always imagined House as an enigmatic creature; he should never be the last one to leave the party. How much better to disappear before the music stops, while there is still some promise and mystique in the air.”
