Mockingjay – Part 1 retains US top spot

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 has topped the US box office for a second week with $56.8m.

The film took $123m in its opening weekend, making it the least successful film in the franchise so far, with 2012’s The Hunger Games taking $155m and 2013’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire claiming $161.1m in their first weekends.

Comedy spin-off Penguins of Madagascar is at two with $25.8m and Big Hero 6 is down to three with $18.7m.

Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar is at four, while new entry Horrible Bosses 2 rounds out the top five.

Dumb and Dumber To is at six with $8.26m, while The Theory of Everything and Gone Girl are at seven and eight respectively.

Birdman is at nine with $1.8m, while Bill Murray’s St. Vincent occupies the number 10 spot.

Mockingjay – Part 1 wins US box office

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 has topped the US box office with $123m.

It becomes the franchise’s least successful film to date, with 2012’s The Hunger Games taking $155m and 2013’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire claiming $161.1m in their opening weekends.

Big Hero 6 remains at two with $20m and Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar stays at three with $15.1m.

Last week’s number one Dumb and Dumber To is down to four, while Gone Girl rounds out the top five.

Beyond the Lights is at six with $2.63m, while Bill Murray’s St. Vincent and Fury follow in seventh and eighth place respectively.

Birdman is up to nine with $1.85, while Jake Gyllenhaal’s Nightcrawler occupies the number 10 spot.

‘Dumb and Dumber To’ tops US box office

Dumb and Dumber To has debuted at number one on the US box office chart.

The Dumb and Dumber sequel sees Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels reprise their roles as Lloyd and Harry, who set out on a road trip to find Harry’s long-lost daughter.

The film took over $38m in its first weekend, beating last week’s number one Big Hero 6 by $2m.

Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar is down to three with $29.2m, while Beyond The Lights is new at four.

Gone Girl is at five with $4.6m, and Bill Murray’s St. Vincent stays at six with $4m.

Fury is down two to seven having taken $3.8m, while Jake Gyllenhaal’s Nightcrawler occupies the number eight spot.

Supernatural thriller Ouija is at nine with $3m, and Birdman rounds out the Top 10.

Disney’s Big Hero 6 tops US box office

Big Hero 6 has debuted at number one in the US box office.

The comedy animation focuses on a robotics genius who becomes involved in a criminal plot to destroy the city of San Fransokyo.

The film took $56.2m in its first weekend, beating Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi epic Interstellar by $6.2m.

Gone Girl, which recently became David Fincher’s highest-grossing film in the US box office, is up one place to three.

Ouija is at four, with St. Vincent rounding out the top five with $5.7m.

Nightcrawler is down to six with $5.512m, Fury is down to seven with $5.5m and John Wick is at eight with $4.07m.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is at nine, while The Book of Life (2014) is down five places to ten with $2.8m.

Nightcrawler tops US box office

Nightcrawler has debuted at number one in the US box office.

The thriller sees Jake Gyllenhaal play a freelance crime journalist who becomes increasingly involved with the law-breaking he reports on.

The film took $10.9m in its first weekend, beating last week’s number one Ouija by just $9,000.

Fury stays at three with $9.1m, while Gone Girl is at four.

The Book of Life is at five with $8.3m and John Wick is down by four to six with $8m.

Bill Murray’s St. Vincent is down one to seven having taken $7.75m, while Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day occupies the number eight spot.

The Judge is at nine with $3.4m and Dracula Untold rounds out the Top 10.

Ouija debuts at number one in the US box office

Ouija has debuted at number one in the US box office.

The horror film, which stars Olivia Cooke, sees a group of friends use a spirit board to contact the dead.

The film took $20m in its first weekend, just beating Keanu Reeves’ thriller John Wick, which debuts at number two with $15.15m.

Last week’s number one Fury drops to three with $13m, while Gone Girl is at four.

The Book of Life takes $9.8m and is down to number five, as St. Vincent is up from fifteenth place to six.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day falls three places and takes number seven, while The Best of Me claims the number eight spot.

The Judge is at nine with $4.345m and Dracula Untold completes this week’s top 10 grossing films.

‘Fury’ unseats ‘Gone Girl’ at US box-office

Gone Girl was no match for Brad Pitt’s Fury at the box office.

Taking in $23.5 million in its debut, the World War II drama unseated Gone Girl from the top spot this weekend, Box Office Mojo reports. After two weeks at No. 1, Gone Girl dropped to second place with $17.8 million.

Animated fantasy The Book of Life had a decent opening, landing in third place with $17 million, while Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day dropped one spot to No. 4 with $12 million.

The Best of Me had the worst debut ever for a Nicholas Sparks movie, opening in fifth place with $10.2 million.

At No. 6 was Dracula Untold with $9.9 million. It was followed by The Judge, whose $7.94 million just edged out Annabelle‘s $7.92 million.

Rounding out the Top 10 were The Equalizer (No. 9, $5.4 million) and The Maze Runner (No. 10, $4.5 million).

Gone Girl has debuted at number one in the US box office.

The mystery-thriller, starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, follows the story of Nick and Amy Dunne as Amy disappears under mysterious circumstances.

The film took $38m in its first weekend, just beating horror Annabelle, which debuts at number two with $37.2m.

Last week’s number one The Equalizer drops two places down to the third spot with $19m, while The Boxtrolls falls down to number four.

The Maze Runner takes $12m and claims number five, as Left Behind debuts at six.

This is Where I Leave You falls three places and takes number seven, while Dolphin Tale 2‘s $3.5m claims the number eight spot.

The Denzel Washington crime-thriller made $35m during it’s first weekend in theatres, knocking The Maze Runner down to the second spot with $17.5m.

The Boxtrolls debuts at number three with a little over $17m, while This is Where I Leave You falls to fourth place.
