Being Human star Russell Tovey has admitted he is pleased that the show is being remade for the US by SyFy.

The actor – who plays werewolf George – explained to io9 that a new version of the supernatural drama would benefit the original series.

“We’re very proud Syfy is doing it,” he explained. “It builds up the brand of Being Human.”

He added: “People do know we exist, but hopefully more people will know [now], because they’re making comparisons in everything I’ve read about it. They’ve [always] said the English version is there and the Americans are doing a version of [it].”

Tovey also had some advice for the cast of the US version, which includes former Smallville star Sam Witwer.

“Don’t try and copy what we’re doing,” he said. “Find your own path.”

The US Being Human is scheduled to air in 2011. A third series of the original show is currently filming in Cardiff.

Gemma Arterton has announced that she will return for the second instalment of Clash of the Titans.

The 24-year-old told MTV News that no contracts have been signed, but she expects to take part in the sequel when details are finalised.

“I think I am doing the second Clash,” she said.

“I don’t know anything about it yet though. It’s one of those things.”

She added that she hopes her character Io is given the opportunity for more action scenes in the next film.

“I think she needs to be less mythical and more real and go for the fighting. It’s fun, as well, doing all that stuff.”

The second Clash of the Titans will be filmed in 3D and released in 2012.

The second and final season of Dollhouse will arrive on DVD and Blu-ray this October, reports Movieweb.

Joss Whedon’s cancelled Fox sci-fi series starred Eliza Dushku as an Active, or a person who could have her memory erased and reprogrammed to serve the clients of an exclusive and illegal organisation called The Dollhouse.

The show also featured Harry Lennix, Olivia Williams, Fran Kranz, Tahmoh Penikett and Enver Gjokaj.

Season two guest stars included Patton Oswalt, Summer Glau and Felicia Day.

The four-disc DVD set will be priced at $49.98 (£32) and the three-disc Blu-ray set will be available for $59.99 (£38). Both formats will contain all 13 episodes of the final season and will be released on October 12.

Special features include deleted scenes, a gag reel, a cast roundtable discussion and a retrospective with Whedon.

The remake of the 1987 sci-fi RoboCop has been cancelled.

The Wrestler director Darren Aronofsky was due to make the film.

The project was put on hold earlier this year due to financial problems at studio MGM.

According to Moviehole, the movie has now been scrapped altogether.

An insider told the website: “[RoboCop is] gone. Kaput. Cancelled. It was one of the first casualties. [Aronofsky] has lost interest anyway, I believe. [I] think we’re all just going to have to be happy with the three RoboCop movies that are out there.”

MGM was put up for sale in 2009 after falling into debt. The production of a number of films, including the next Bond instalment and The Hobbit, have been disrupted as a result.

Inception has remained at the top of the US box office.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s sci-fi-action film earned $43 million, beating Angelina Jolie’s spy thriller Salt with $36 million.

Despicable Me lands in third place with $24 million, followed by The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Toy Story 3.

Debuting at number six is the family film Ramona And Beezus, starring Selena Gomez, with $8 million.

Finally, The Last Airbender claims the number nine position with $4 million and Predators takes the tenth spot with $2 million.

Marvel Studios revealed the full cast for 2012’s The Avengers at the San Diego Comic-Con this weekend.

The panel began with the showing of a teaser trailer first look at Chris Evans in his role as Captain America before also showing Hugo Weaving in character before his transformation into supervillain the Red Skull.

Marvel Studios then brought out cast members from 2011’s Thor including Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston.

CBR reports Hiddleton teased that his interpretation of Loki would be as: “The agent of chaos and also the damaged younger brother.”

Samuel L Jackson then arrived on stage to introduce the full cast of The Avengers including the previously announced Scarett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr.

It was confirmed that Jeremy Renner would play Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo would be the new Bruce Banner and that Joss Whedon will direct the film.

“I’ve had a dream all my life, and it was not this good,” Whedon told the audience. “This cast is more than I could ever dream of working with, and I am going to blow it.”

It was previously rumoured that Whedon favourite Nathan Fillion and Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria would be announced as superheros Ant-Man and The Wasp respectively, but neither character was mentioned at the panel.

Saw producer Oren Koules has confirmed that the seventh instalment in the horror series will be the last.

Koules told USA Today that the long-running franchise will come to a close with the release of Saw 3D later this year.

He said: “It’s time to stop. We have told the story we wanted to tell, and this is going to be a great farewell.”

Koules added that Saw 3D will feature 11 booby traps and had to be re-cut and re-submitted to the Motion Picture Association of America six times to be brought down from an NC-17 rating to an R.

“I’m surprised we got it,” he commented. “It’s more violent than any of them. But it’s in 3D, it answers all the questions, it comes full circle. We have the goods on this one.”

Saw 3D has also had its release date pushed back a week – to October 29 – in order to avoid horror rival Paranormal Activity 2.

Inception has debuted at the top of the US box office.

The Christopher Nolan mind-bending thriller, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, claimed $60 million over the weekend.

Falling to second place is the animated feature Despicable Me with $32 million.

Also debuting this week is Nicolas Cage’s action adventure The Sorcerer’s Apprentice at number three with $17 million.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse lands at number four, followed by Toy Story 3 and Grown Ups.

Finally, The Karate Kid, starring Jaden Smith, drops to number ten with $2 million.

Details have been revealed of three new characters who will appear in the upcoming fourth series of Torchwood.Entertainment Weekly reports that the new episodes – which will be co-produced by the BBC and US network Starz – will introduce new regular Rex Matheson, a “CIA agent born to make waves” with a “wicked” sense of humour.The show will also introduce two new recurring characters – Oswald Jones, a convicted murderer and paedophile, and Esther Katusi, a young CIA agent “who learns what she’s really made of only when she’s forced to”.Both roles are said to be “key to the new season”.Casting for all three parts is believed to be ongoing.Series star John Barrowman recently revealed that he is “ecstatic” about the fourth series of Torchwood, while his co-star Eve Myles admitted that she is “nervous” about filming in America. The new episodes are expected to air on Starz in the US and on BBC One in the UK next summer.
