Twentieth Century Fox has pushed back the release date for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will arrive in US cinemas the summer of 2012 instead of March of that year, as was previously announced.

The movie originally started out as a prequel to Scott’s 1979 classic Alien and has now become an original sci-fi project.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo actress Noomi Rapace stars in Prometheus, co-written by Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof and Jon Spaihts.

Prometheus will open on June 8, 2012.

The King’s Speech has picked up recognition in 12 categories to lead the nominations at the 2011 Academy Awards.

The royal drama, which centres on King George VI’s attempts to overcome a crippling stammer as World War II approaches, has scooped nominations for ‘Best Picture’, ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’.

The British film also has a strong presence in the acting categories as stars Colin Firth (‘Best Actor’), Geoffrey Rush (‘Supporting Actor’) and Helena Bonham Carter (‘Supporting Actress’) all score Oscar nods.

Joel and Ethan Coen’s remake of True Grit is close behind with 10 nominations in total, while The Social Network and Inception have secured eight nods apiece – including appearances in the ‘Best Picture’ line-up.

A representative for Keanu Reeves has denied a report claiming that the actor plans to star in more Matrix movies.

Ain’t It Cool News recently posted about Reeves reteaming with the Wachowski brothers to make two further Matrix sequels.

According to the report, the actor spoke of the upcoming films at a Q&A session in London.

However, Reeves’s spokesperson has said that the updates are not happening.

“None of it is true,” the rep told Entertainment Weekly.

Keanu Reeves has reportedly revealed that the Wachowski brothers are working on two more Matrix films.

Reeves, who played Neo in the first three Matrix movies, spoke about the upcoming sequels at a Q&A session in London, according to Ain’t It Cool News.

Reeves said that he met with the Wachowski brothers at Christmas time, where they apparently stated that “they had completed work on a two-picture script treatment that would see him return to the world of The Matrix as Neo”.

The Wachowski brothers will finish working on their current adaptation of Cloud Atlas before allegedly meeting with Reeves once again to discuss the Matrix sequels.

The Wachowski brothers are also working on an adaptation of Robin Hood called Hood that is set in the future. Will Smith is believed to be starring in the project.

The week’s only new film release No Strings Attached has topped the box office in its opening weekend.

The romantic comedy, which stars Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher, toppled last week’s number one, taking $20.3 million.

Seth Rogen’s superhero flick The Green Hornet falls to second place taking $18.1 million, followed by Vince Vaughn’s comedy The Dilemma which took $9.7 million.

Colin Firth’s critically acclaimed historical drama The King’s Speech remains in fourth with $9.1 million, followed by the Coen Brothers’ True Grit, which rounds out the top five with takings of $8 million.

Next week sees the release of a new horror in the form of Antony Hopkins’s latest film The Rite, as well as the Jason Statham-led action remake of The Mechanic.

The King’s Speech has taken home the top movie prize at the 2011 Producers Guild Awards.

The royal drama, starring Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush, was handed the ‘Darryl F. Zanuck Award For Outstanding Producer Of Theatrical Motion Pictures’ at last night’s ceremony.

The King’s Speech producers Iain Canning, Emile Sherman and Gareth Unwin won the trophy ahead of the teams behind films such as The Social Network, Black Swan and Inception.

In the last ten years, the PGA winner has repeated its success at the Oscars 60% of the time to scoop ‘Best Picture’.

Quentin Tarantino will be honoured with a special prize at the Cesar Awards in Paris.

BBC News reports that the Kill Bill director will be given an award in celebration of his career.

Cesar president Alain Terzian said that the filmmaker is to be honoured as “a great international artist”.

Also in line for prizes at the annual awards, which will take place on February 25 in the French capital and be presided over by Jodie Foster, are Algerian film Of Gods and Men and Roman Polanski’s The Ghost.

The Social Network is further nominated alongside Invictus, Inception, Illegal, Bright Star, Heartbeats and The Secret in their Eyes.

Clint Eastwood has reportedly been confirmed to direct Beyoncé in a big screen remake of A Star Is Born.

Deadline reveals that Eastwood will also produce the feature along with Billy Gerber, Basil Iwanyk and Jon Peters, who was behind the 1976 version starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.

Beyoncé will take on the starring role of up-and-coming singer Esther Hoffman, though no male lead has yet been cast.

A Star Is Born is due to begin filming this autumn with a release date set for 2012.

Lethal Weapon is reportedly the latest movie series being lined up for a revamp.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio wants to revive the concept of two mismatched cops for a reboot of the hit action franchise.

Mel Gibson’s volatile homicide cop Martin Riggs and Danny Glover’s veteran police officer Roger Murtaugh teamed up for four movies spanning from 1987 to 1998. Superman director Richard Donner helmed the films, which grossed more than $950 million at the worldwide box office.

A fifth Lethal Weapon, which would have seen Gibson and Glover reunite, was rumoured in 2008.
