Three audience members reportedly passed out at a Toronto screening of Danny Boyle’s latest film 127 Hours.

The movie follows climber Aron Ralston’s days-long ordeal trapped under a boulder in the mountains of Utah. Ralston, played by James Franco, is forced to amputate his own arm to free himself.

Boyle shows Ralston breaking his arm with a rock, working through the flesh with a blunt knife then cutting tendons with pliers.

TheWrap film critic John H. Fort claimed that he witnessed three people faint and one have a seizure at the movie’s Toronto Film Festival premiere.

Milla Jovovich has confirmed that a fifth Resident Evil movie will be made.

The actress told Vulture that director Paul W.S. Anderson is planning to seek fan input to assemble the storyline for the Afterlife sequel.

“So we’re definitely going to make another one,” she said.

“We’ve been talking to a lot of fans on Twitter and stuff, so it’s probably going to be one of the first movies where we really talk to fans to see what they want, and what characters they want to see. It’s going to be a more interactive process.”

Resident Evil: Afterlife topped the US box office over the weekend, taking in $27 million.

Takers moved one spot up to two with $6 million, followed by The American and Machete.

Drew Barrymore’s rom-com Going The Distance remains in fifth place with $3.8 million, while The Last Exorcism drops to number seven with $3.4 million.

Finally, Eat Pray Love, starring Julia Roberts, slips to the tenth spot with $2 million.

Simon Cowell has criticised Lou Reed for not allowing Susan Boyle to sing ‘Perfect Day’ on America’s Got Talent.

Boyle is said to have walked off the set of the talent show after the former Velvet Underground singer banned her from performing his song.

He later denied the snub, citing clearance issues for Boyle not singing the track.

Speaking on BBC Radio 2, Cowell said: “She was supposed to be on America’s Got Talent this week. We’ve flown her over and she is going to perform ‘Perfect Day’ by Lou Reed.

“Two hours before she is going to perform it we get a phone call. Lou Reed will not allow her to sing ‘Perfect Day’.

“This is so petty, so pathetic. Loads of people have covered this song. This is a fantastic version. He’s now saying, ‘If I’d have known, I’d have given permission.’

“Well Lou, if you’re listening: Do we have permission to put the song on next week?”

James Cameron has said that he will not revisit Avatar following the release of the definitive director’s cut in November.

The Oscar-winning director released Avatar: Special Edition in cinemas last month, incorporating nine minutes of additional footage into the original cinematic version. A final director’s cut is scheduled to be released on DVD in November, with another seven-minute extension.

Cameron told Total Film that November’s release is the final working of the 3D epic that he will be involved in. He said: “No, I’m not going back to this.

“There’s no revisiting this downstream, and I don’t see it coming back into theatres at all unless 20 years from now they want to do something and I’m a doddering old guy that can’t stop them.”

A sequel to Avatar is currently slated for a 2014 release date.

Torchwood writer John Fay has claimed that the upcoming fourth season will be the most ambitious yet.

He told Syfylove that creator Russell T. Davies was keen to move the series forward with new ten-part saga The New World.

“Like anything in life, you can rest on your laurels or you can try to push on again and achieve something new,” he said. “That is what Russell has done. On Children of Earth he had a very clear and defined vision, but what he has outlined for The New World is equally, if not more ambitious than before.”

Fay confirmed that the new episodes will relaunch and reboot the show.

Clint Eastwood has revealed that turned down two iconic film roles early in his career.

The actor told The Daily Telegraph that he declined offers to play both James Bond and Superman because he was unwilling to step into already established franchises.

Eastwood claimed that he was first approached for the role of 007 after Sean Connery left the film series following 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever.

“I was offered pretty good money to do James Bond if I would take on the role,” he said. “But to me, well, that was somebody else’s gig. That’s Sean’s deal. It didn’t feel right for me to be doing it.”

Gemma Arterton has revealed that she will meet with Ridley Scott about starring in his Alien prequels.

The Tamara Drewe star told The Times that Scott requested a meeting after seeing her performance in J Blakeson’s thriller The Disappearance Of Alice Creed.

Scott recently detailed his planned additions to the Alien franchise, saying that the two-film story will be “really tough, really nasty”.

Arterton also disclosed that she has upcoming roles in The Keys To The Street, a Ruth Rendell novel adapted by Inception director Christopher Nolan and a Richard E. Grant-helmed “cowboy film” In With The Outlaws.

James Cameron has announced plans to make a 3D documentary about the Amazon’s Xikrin-Kayapo tribe.

Speaking to newspaper the Folha de Sao Paulo, Cameron said that he is hoping to journey to Brazil to make a film about the indigenous tribe.

“I want to return to meet some of the leaders of the Xikrin-Kayapo tribe who invited me,” the filmmaker said. “I want to take a 3D camera to film how they live, their culture.”

The director has already visited the Amazon twice before and shot a film – to be included on the Avatar DVD in December – on the tribe’s resistance to the damming project on the Xingu River.

The director said that he he made the film highlighting the dam construction after he was asked by “the Brazilian Indians, who were desperate, I could not turn away”.

The thriller, starring George Clooney, earned $12 million over the weekend.

Also debuting this week were Robert Rodriguez’s Machete at number three with $11 million and Drew Barrymore’s rom-com Going The Distance in fifth place with $6 million.

The Expendables slips to the number six spot, followed by The Other Guys and Eat Pray Love.

Finally, Inception drops to number nine with $4 million and Nanny McPhee claims the number ten position with $3 million.
