Jack Black’s Goosebumps has taken $23.5m in its opening weekend to go straight to the top of the US box office.

The film knocked The Martian off the top spot, while Crimson Peak was less than impressive in its opening weekend.

The Martian is down to 2 with $21.5m, while Steven Spielberg’s Cold War drama Bridge of Spies is in at 3 with $15.3m.

Meanwhile, Tom Hiddleston’s Crimson Peak is at 4 with a disappointing $12.8m.

Hotel Transylvania 2 is at 5 with $12.5m, Hugh Jackman’s Pan is at 6 with $5.8m and The Intern is at 7 with $5.4m.

Finally, Sicario is at 8 with $4.5m, new entry Woodlawn is at 9 with $4.1m and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials rounds out the top ten with $2.7m.

The Martian has remained the number one movie for the second week at the US box office.

Starring Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain, the Ridley Scott-directed movie took in $37m, adding to its total of $108.7m.

Hotel Transylvania 2 and The Intern also kept their spots from last weekend – the former at second place with $20.3m and the latter at fourth place with $8.6m.

Meanwhile, Pan had an unimpressive debut, landing at third place with $15.5m.

Starring Hugh Jackman, Rooney Mara and Garrett Hedlund, Pan tells the story of how a young orphan boy named Peter became the hero known as Peter Pan.

The Walk, on the other hand, managed to climb up from last weekend’s eleventh spot to seventh place with $3.6m.

Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, The Walk tells the real-life story of high-wire artist Philippe Petit’s dream to to walk between the World Trade Centre towers in 1974.

Sicaro slipped two spots to fifth place with $7.3m, followed by Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials in sixth place with $5.2m.

Black Mass at eight with $3.1m, Everest at ninth with $3m and The Visit at tenth with $2.4m round up the top ten list at the US box office.

Neflix subscribers in the US, Canada and Latin America are facing a price hike if they want to keep tabs on Daredevil and House of Cards.

The streaming giant announced today that new customers in the aforementioned regions will now have to pay $9.99 per month – up $1 – for the multi-screen standard HD plan.

Existing customers will maintain their $8.99-per-month rate for the next year, at which time their fee will also increase.

Netflix announced today (November 8): “To continue adding more TV shows and movies including many Netflix original titles, we are modestly raising the price for some new members in the US.

“As a thank you to existing Netflix members — who aren’t already benefiting from grandfathering — we will maintain their current price for a year.”

Elsewhere, Hotel Transylvania 2 is down to two with $33m and Emily Blunt’s Sicario rises seven places to third with $12m.

Meanwhile, Everest is at seven with $5.5m and M. Night Shyamalan’s The Visit is at eight with $3.9m.

Finally, War Room is at nine with $2.8m and The Perfect Guy rounds out the top ten with $2.4m.

Hotel Transylvania 2 has checked straight in at the top of the US Box Office.

The comedy sequel took $47.5m in its first week, knocking last week’s number one Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials off the top spot.

Elsewhere, Robert De Niro’s The Intern lands at two with $18m, while The Scorch Trails is down to three with $14m.

Everest climbs one place to four with $13m, and Black Mass rounds out the top five with $11.5m.

Horror film The Visit is down to six with $6.75m, The Perfect Guy is at seven with $4.75m and War Room is at eight with $4.25m.

Finally, The Green Inferno is at nine with $3.5m, while Sicario is at ten with $1.7m.
