Director Zack Snyder’s next film Sucker Punch 3D will debut in IMAX cinemas.

The large screen booking is part of a 20-picture distribution deal between Warner Bros and IMAX, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Snyder’s graphic novel adaptation Watchmen was also released in IMAX in 2009.

“The growing international IMAX theatre network will enable us to offer the premium IMAX release of Sucker Punch 3D to a wider audience, introducing even more moviegoers to the winning combination of Zack Snyder’s vision and IMAX’s powerful format,” said Warner’s Veronika Kwan-Rubinek.

Sucker Punch 3D is an action-oriented fantasy film about a girl who escapes an oppressive institution. It stars Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens and Carla Gugino and is scheduled for a December release.

Director Vincenzo Natali has said that plans for a new 3D Swamp Thing movie have been stalled.

The Splice helmer expressed his interest in making a film based on the DC Comics character in April.

Speaking to MTV, Natali has now revealed that rights issues have held up the project.

“Unfortunately, there is no Swamp Thing movie in the works right now because of all the legal entanglements involved with that particular property,” he said.

Natali added: “I’m told it won’t happen any time soon. [Matrix producer] Joel Silver was going to do Swamp Thing, and he actually had a couple of scripts in, only to discover later on that the film rights were held by another company.”

Natali’s Splice opens June 4 in the US.

ABC has reportedly decided to pull new series Happy Town.According to Entertainment Weekly, the show will be taken off air after tonight’s edition.It will be replaced by a Primetime special on May 19 and Transformers on May 26, before returning on June 2 with the first of five remaining episodes.The show, which has previously been compared to Twin Peaks, focuses on a small town which is haunted by a number of unsolved kidnappings and is rocked by a new crime.It has struggled in the ratings since it debuted on ABC on April 28.

Actress and jazz singer Lena Horne has died at the age of 92.

The Brooklyn-born star passed away late yesterday at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital, the medical centre’s spokeswoman Gloria Chin confirmed. Further details have not yet been released.

Horne is best known for playing the role of Selina Rogers in the 1943 film Stormy Weather. Her version of the movie’s title song later became a successful single and her signature hit.

The star’s long career saw her break down racial barriers to become known as Hollywood’s first black sex symbol. She was also an activist in the Civil Rights Movement.

Among Horne’s other movies were Panama Hattie and Cabin In The Sky. Additionally, she appeared in a large number of war-time musicals.

Horne’s last music release was 2006’s Seasons Of A Life, a collection of previously unreleased performances.

The star is survived by her daughter Gail Lumet Buckley.

Iron Man 2 has debuted at the top of the US box office.

The Jon Favreau-directed blockbuster, starring Robert Downey Jr, has claimed $133.6 million in its first week in release.

The re-imagination of the horror classic A Nightmare On Elm Street slips to number two with $9.1 million, followed by the animated feature How To Train Your Dragon in third place with $6.7 million and Date Night taking the fourth slot with $5.3 million.

In its third week in release, Jennifer Lopez’s The Back-Up Plan still has not managed to surpass its budget of $35 million. The rom-com has fallen to fifth place with $4.3 million.

Finally, debuting in tenth place this week is the the documentary Babies with $1.5 million.

Screenwriter Justin Theroux has denied that Zoolander 2 has been axed by Paramount.

Star Ben Stiller recently wrote on his Twitter page that his dimwitted male model character Derek Zoolander had not the “means or intellect to fund [his] own comeback”.

Theroux, who is writing and is slated to direct the film, told Movieline that work is continuing on the comedy sequel.

He said: “Today and yesterday I was with Ben, and today, we continued to break story. I have not gotten word from anyone to put pencils down, so I am continuing as though we are proceeding with that film.”

When asked about the meaning behind Stiller’s tweet, Theroux added: “I wish I could answer that! Honestly, I don’t know. You’d have to ask Ben. I have no clue what those things mean. I’ve heard them, too. We’re operating as though it’s absolutely going.”

Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry has revealed that some characters will return for the last episode of the season.

In a video posted on the programme’s website, Cherry also suggested that the episode is the show’s best ever season finale.

“I can promise you we’ve got some old faces from the past returning in the season finale,” he said.

“[For] some people it will be their last episode. And I’ve got a great little cliffhanger question that’s going to hang out over the series over the summer.”

He added: “It’s really, I think, going to be one of the best season finales we’ve ever done.”

The season finale of Desperate Housewives will air on Sunday, May 16 at 9pm on ABC.

Production on a sequel to Kick-Ass will reportedly begin in 2011.

According to an official statement from comic book creator Mark Millar, the sequel, titled Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, is being eyed for a 2012 release date.

Millar is currently penning a sequel to his Kick-Ass comic.

Millar made the announcement in a statement about his plans to launch a new magazine called CLiNT which will feature original comics and commentary.

It has not been announced if stars Aaron Johnson, Nicolas Cage and Chloe Moretz would return for the follow-up.
