Dizzee, Corden pip Tinie Tempah to No. 1

ImageDizzee Rascal and James Corden have beaten Tinie Tempah in this week’s UK singles chart.

Orchestrated by Simon Cowell, the rapper and comedian made a late surge to the top of the charts with their unofficial charity World Cup anthem ‘Shout’, a loose cover of Tears for Fears’s 1985 hit track.

Only released on Wednesday, the track pulled in impressive sales of over 110,000. Corden and Dizzee performed live to an audience of nearly 10 million on Britain’s Got Talent over a week ago.

Tempah’s ‘Frisky’, featuring Labrinth, could not replicate the the 21-year-old hip-hop artist’s debut single ‘Pass Out’, which stormed to number one in April.

David Guetta fell three places from last week’s chart victory, denied third place by K’naan’s ‘Wavin’ Flag’, which was another new World Cup entry.

Meanwhile, Eminem made another small climb, from sixth to fifth spot, while Usher’s ‘OMG’ re-entered the top ten at number six.

Jason Derulo’s ‘Ridin’ Solo’ and B.o.B’s ‘Nothin’ On You’ plummeted to seventh and eighth place respectively, ahead of ‘Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart’ by Alicia Keys, which was down two to number nine.

Pixie Lott only just missed out on making the top ten with ‘Turn It Up’, while Baddiel, Skinner & The Lightning Seeds benefitted from World Cup fever to rise a huge 43 places to slip inside the top ten.

Elsewhere in the top 40, Dizzee’s ‘Dirtee Disco’ was down eight places to 12, N’Dubz’s ‘We Dance On’ slid nine spots to 17, while Aggro Santos’s ‘Candy’ sunk the same distance to 14. Also, ‘Solo’ by Iyaz dropped ten spots to 20.
