Sean Bean is to star in new spy drama Legends.



The TNT pilot - from Homeland's Howard Gordon - will star the Game of Thrones actor as Martin Odum, an undercover agent with the uncanny ability to assume different personas.

Brendan Fraser was originally cast in the role, but dropped out of the project following a creative disagreement with exec producer Gordon.

Bean's recent television credits have included the role of Eddard 'Ned' Stark on the first season of HBO's hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones and a stint on short-lived ABC series Missing.

He is perhaps best known for playing the title role in the Sharpe television movies between 1993 and 2008, while his film credits including 1995 Bond movie GoldenEye and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

His new project Legends is based on a 2005 book of the same name by spy novelist Robert Littell.
