The Hobbit stays on top at UK box office

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies has topped the box office for the second consecutive weekend.

Peter Jackson’s Middle-earth farewell grossed £5.4 million to take its running total in the UK past the £20 million mark.

Paddington retained its place at number two ahead of new releases Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and comedy sequel Dumb and Dumber To.

Penguins of Madagascar rounds out the top five, while Bollywood film PK debuts at number seven.

Elsewhere, the festive-themed Nativity 3: Dude, Where’s My Donkey? and Get Santa both hold onto their spots in the top ten with holidays approaching.
