Call of Duty beats FIFA 15 to become No1 Xmas game

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is 2014’s Christmas number one.

This year’s entry is the fifth in the long-running shooter franchise to take the coveted title.

It beat FIFA 15 to the top spot in part due to a well-timed retail promotion, a tactic FIFA 14 used to beat Call of Duty: Ghosts to the Christmas number one spot last year, according to GfK Chart-Track.

GTA 5 is in third place, followed by Far Cry 4 and Assassin’s Creed Unity in fourth and fifth respectively.

Elsewhere, The Crew climbed five places from 11th to 6th following a price cut – the PS4 version is £15 cheaper than last week – while Destiny, two versions of Minecraft and LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham complete the top ten.
