Arctic Monkeys score fifth UK No.1 album

Arctic Monkeys have achieved their fifth UK number one album with AM.

The band also become the first independent-signed act to debut at number one with their first five studio albums, according to the Official Charts Company.

AM sold over 157,000 copies to become the second fastest-selling album of 2013, behind Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories.

London Grammar land at two with their debut studio LP If You Wait. The 1975 slip two places from last week’s top spot to three with their self-titled debut.

Goldfrapp enter at four with their latest release Tales of Us, followed by Irish band The Strypes with Snapshot at five.

The Weeknd achieves his highest-charting album in the UK so far at 12 with Kiss Land. The Clash’s collection The Clash Hits Back is new at 13.

Janelle MonĂ¡e scores a new entry at 14 with her latest release The Electric Lady.

Rod Stewart’s Rarities collection enters at 35, followed by Murray Gold’s Doctor Who Series 7 soundtrack at 37. US jazz vocalist Gregory Porter’s Liquid Spirit is new at 40.
