Gears of War: Judgment has topped the UK charts in its debut week of release.
It fought off strong competition from other new releases, with The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct debuting in third and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate in seventh.
Despite the strong sales, Gears of War: Judgment was outsold by 2011 release Gears of War 3 by as much as four times in its week of release.
Last week fellow prequel and platform exclusive God of War Ascension saw a similar decline in launch sales over its predecessor God of War 3.
Elsewhere, last week’s number one Tomb Raider drops to second place, while Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 and God of War Ascension fall to fifth and sixth respectively.
