Pretty Little Liars has been renewed by ABC Family.



The teen drama starring Lucy Hale will return for a fourth season consisting of 24 episodes in mid-2013.

The show is ABC Family's biggest series of all time in the network's key demographics.

It was named as cable TV's top show of summer 2012 for the demo bracket of people aged 12-34 and females 12-34. It was also the top scripted cable show with women and female teens.

Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Tyler Blackburn, Holly Marie Combs and Ian Harding are also among the show's cast.

A Halloween special will air on October 23 as part of the network's '13 Nights of Halloween' event. It will then continue its current third season in early 2013.

Pretty Little Liars won three prizes at this year's Teen Choice Awards, winning 'Choice TV Show: Drama', 'Choice TV Actress: Drama' for Hale and 'Choice TV Actor: Drama' for Harding.
