Richard Schiff has joined The Affair.
The actor will play a high-profile city attorney in the second season of the Showtime drama, Deadline reports.
Schiff's character Jon Gottlief is the long-standing lawyer of John Doman's character Bruce Butler, and will play a major role in a season-long arc.
His previous television credits include The West Wing, Manhattan and NCIS.
Dominic West and Ruth Wilson lead the cast of the drama as a man and a woman who embark on an affair after meeting on a summer holiday in Long Island.
Wilson won a Golden Globe for her performance in the series, while the show itself was named Best Television Series - Drama at January's ceremony.
The Affair will return to Showtime in the US later in 2015. Sky Atlantic is currently airing season one in the UK.
