Da Vinci's Demons has been renewed for a second season.



Starz has greenlit a sophomore run after airing just one episode of the show, watched by 2.14 million.

Production on the second season is expected to begin in May and will air in 2014.

Starz CEO Chris Albrecht said: "Da Vinci's Demons serves up action, adventure and history in a unique and highly entertaining way that only someone like David S Goyer can.

"The first season premiered to strong audience engagement and we are excited to bring the next chapter of Leonardo da Vinci's adventures to audiences around the world."

He continued: "I'm excited that we get to continue the adventures of the world's most eccentric and glorious polymath.

"Long live Leonardo and thanks to Starz for helping to make it happen."

Da Vinci's Demons airs Fridays at 10/9c on Starz in the US and will premiere in the UK on FOX on April 19 at 10pm.
