Syfy has made a second season of “The Magicians” appear on its schedule for 2017.
The channel has picked up a second season of the show, which has gotten off to a decent start in the ratings and has picked up a lot of strong reviews as well. The show is based on a series of novels by Lev Grossman about the students at a college for magic in upstate New York.
“Thanks to an extraordinarily gifted team of executive producers and our partners at Universal Cable Productions, ‘The Magicians’ has become a buzzed-about hit, enchanting fans of the novels as well as attracting new and younger audiences to Syfy,” Dave Howe, president of Syfy and Chiller, says in a statement.
The first three episodes of “The Magicians” averaged a 0.3 same-day rating in adults 18-49 and a shade under 1 million viewers. In Live +3, the show rises to a 0.7 and 1.7 million viewers.
Season 2 will run for 13 episodes and premiere in 2017. “The Magicians” joins these shows that have been renewed for 2016-17.
