NBC has dropped its Wizard of Oz-based drama Emerald City.
The Peacock Network had given the Matt Arnold and Josh Friedman-produced drama a straight-to-series order, announcing a 10-episode pickup at the beginning of the year.
However, The Hollywood Reporter says that NBC has now decided not to proceed with the show, after failing to agree on a shared vision with the producers.
Originally teased as a "dramatic and modern re-imagining" of L Frank Baum's popular series, Emerald City was set to focus on the adventures of 20-year-old Dorothy Gale when she found herself transported to Oz.
Despite casting yet to take place, NBC had promoted the project, which comes as the Wizard of Oz film celebrates its 75th anniversary, in July at Comic Com.
Emerald City joins Fox's straight-to-series Hieroglyph, which was axed when the network decided that the pilot "didn't live up to the expectations".
