More Jess and Schmidt are coming your way soon
Good news: New Girl is officially coming back in the fall.
Fox ordered a sixth season of the five-time Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated comedy series on Tuesday (April 12).
"Every network comedy should aspire to what Liz Meriwether is achieving in New Girl, with its bravura dialogue, inventive and witty performances by the talented cast and emotionally engaging storytelling," Fox president David Madden announced.
"The series is as creatively strong today as it ever was, we want to congratulate New Girl on reaching its milestone 100th episode and we can't wait for the next subversive and hilarious chapter of these characters' lives."
New Girl's renewal comes at the end of a fifth season that strayed from the show's established format.
Star Zooey Deschanel's pregnancy kept the show off the air until early 2016, at which time Megan Fox was brought in to temporarily replace Zooey while she was on maternity leave.
New Girl continues its current run on Tuesdays at 8pm ET on Fox in the US. E4 airs the show in the UK.
