HBO has officially announced this afternoon that its critically acclaimed comedy, “Silicon Valley,” will be ending with its sixth season. The final season will consist of seven episodes and is set to air later this year.

“Silicon Valley’ has been a career and life highlight for us. We’ll miss it desperately, but we’ve always let Pied Piper’s journey guide the way, and season six seems to be the fitting conclusion,” said showrunners Mike Judge and Alec Berg in a statement today. “We are forever indebted to our incredible cast, crew and partners at HBO. At a certain point, there’s only so much we can do to make the world a better place.”

Following a Silicon Valley-based engineer trying to build his own company called Pied Piper, the series has been a staple of HBO’s comedy lineup ever since its premiere in 2014. Its cast includes Thomas Middleditch, Kumail Nanjiani, Josh Brener, Martin Starr, Zach Woods, Matt Ross, Amanda Crew, and more.

So, with this announcement, “Silicon Valley” is now the third veteran HBO title to be ending this year, joining “Game of Thrones” and “Veep,” both of which concluded their respective runs earlier this month.
