New Girl renewed for season 5

New Girl has been renewed for a fifth season by Fox.



Work on more episodes of the comedy series is already underway because of lead actress Zooey Deschanel's pregnancy.

Fox president David Madden said today (March 31): "Four seasons in, New Girl continues to be one of the smartest and most relatable comedies on television.

"The writing is razor-sharp, the ensemble is consistently hilarious, and we couldn't be more proud of… the entire New Girl team. We absolutely love this show and we're so excited to bring it back for season five."

TV Line reports that Selfie's John Cho will guest star in at least one episode of season five as a guy who hits it off with Jess (Zooey Deschanel) while on jury duty.

SNL's Taran Killam was previously confirmed to be shooting a guest role on New Girl as another love interest for Jess.

Season five will include a major cast change, as Damon Wayans Jr leaves his role as Coach.
