Daniel Craig has revealed that he underwent a strict diet regime to lose weight for his role in Cowboys & Aliens.



The Casino Royale actor explained that he wanted to "get skinny" for the role of Jake Lonergan in the movie, as most cowboys wouldn't normally have his usual physique.

"I dieted because I wanted to get skinny because I didn't think cowboys should be pumped up," he told Sky News.

Craig added that the opportunity to star in a film opposite screen legend Harrison Ford and play a cowboy was "a joy".

"I wanted to be a cowboy more than I want to be anything else. I had a plastic Winchester toy gun which was free at a fair," he explained.

"It's been a joy, I've been lucky and doing it with Harrison Ford, too, so two for one."

Craig recently said that starring in a romantic comedy would be "a disaster".
