Natalie Portman has revealed that she stopped seeing friends while filming Black Swan because she could barely eat.
The actress explained that her role as ballet dancer Nina required her to lose a lot of weight so she was unable to socialise.
Portman, who shed 20 pounds for the part, told the Daily Record: "[Director] Darren [Aronofsky] said to me before the film, 'How much weight do you think you can lose without getting sick?'
"I was on a very strict diet. I wasn't unhealthy. I was still eating but very little. I had my little meals that were prepared and that was all I could eat during the day. So I didn't go out with my friends. I couldn't have meals. I wasn't drinking alcohol at all."
However, the 29-year-old went on to confess that she rewarded herself with her favourite foods after finishing the shoot.
She added: "For my first meal after the film, I just started carb loading. I had pasta, bread and ice cream. I like my food."
