Lone Survivor has ended Frozen's run on top of the US box office.

The Mark Wahlberg-starring film – which dramatises an intense Afghanistan War battle - took $38.5m over the weekend to win the top spot on the chart.

Frozen remained strong in second place after several weeks in the number-one position, by earning $15m over the last several days.

The animated film's stars Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel recently opened up to Digital Spy about their all-time favourite Disney movies.

The top five was rounded out by The Wolf of Wall Street, the debuting The Legend of Hercules and American Hustle.

Last weekend's second place finisher Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones fell sharply to ninth place in its second week of release.
