Jack Coleman will be reprising his role as the devious Bracken in Castle's eighth season.



Bracken will re-appear in the two-part season eight premiere 'XY' in "a surprising way", producer Terence Paul Winter told TV Line.

The villainous US senator – also known as The Dragon – was last seen being arrested for the murder of Johanna Beckett, the mother of detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic).

'XY' will also introduce new series regulars, security specialist Hayley Vargas (Toks Olagundoye) and tech Vikram Singh (Sunkrish Bala).

Aside from his brief appearance on ABC's Castle, Coleman is also back on rival network NBC for the limited-run series Heroes Reborn.

It was reported earlier this year that Penny Johnson Jerald will not be back this fall as police captain Victoria Gates.

Castle returns on September 21 on ABC in the US.
