Sam Smith and John Legend hold on to No.1 single

Sam Smith and John Legend have held firm to spend a second consecutive week at the top of this week’s UK singles chart.

The pair’s collaboration on ‘Lay Me Down’, the official 2015 Comic Relief single, retained the number one spot with a lead of 9,000 combined chart sales.

Years & Years also remained steady, keeping their number two place with ‘King’, while Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney climb two places to number three with ‘FourFiveSeconds’.

‘FourFiveSeconds’ is also the most-streamed track of the week, having notched up 1.98 million streams.

James Bay’s ‘Hold Back the River’ climbs six places to reach a new peak at number four, while the top five is completed by Ellie Goulding’s ‘Love Me Like You Do’.

The week’s highest new entry is Tough Love’s ‘So Freakin’ Tight’ which enters the chart at number 11.

Ed Sheeran’s ‘Bloodstream’ climbs 11 places this week to rank at number 26. The rise comes ahead of Sheeran premiering a new version of the song featuring Rudimental, which will be released on March 29.

Pitbull earns his 24th UK top 40 hit with ‘Time of Our Lives’ featuring Ne-Yo, entering at number 28.

Norwegian producer Kygo climbs 16 places to make his debut in the top 40 with ‘Firestone’, while MNEK enters at number 38 with ‘The Rhythm’.
