‘Hangover 3’ retains box office top spot…

The Hangover Part III has retained top position at the UK box office in its second week of release.

The comedy franchise’s third and final instalment pulled in £2.9 million, once again leaving Fast & Furious 6 in second place with just over £2 million.

However, the third film is still significantly under-performing compared to its predecessor The Hangover Part II, which made £10 million upon its release in 2011.

3D animation Epic remained in third place with £1.9 million, while Star Trek Into Darkness overtook The Great Gatsby by a narrow margin, climbing from fifth place to fourth after four weeks on release.

The week’s new entries included Robert De Niro-starring comedy The Big Wedding and British vampire thriller Byzantium, which debuted in seventh and tenth spot respectively.
