‘Arthur Christmas’ reclaims UK box office crown

Arthur Christmas has reclaimed first place at the UK box office on its seventh week on release.

Aardman’s festive family movie, featuring the voices of James McAvoy and Bill Nighy, pulled in more than £2 million over the Christmas period to return to the number one spot ahead of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked falls a place to number three, while non-movers Puss in Boots and New Year’s Eve round out the top five.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Bollywood action film Don 2 is a new entry at six, and Christmas favourite It’s a Wonderful Life makes it into the top ten after screening at 50 cinemas nationwide.
