Transformers: Dark of the Moon has topped the UK box office for the second consecutive weekend.

Director Michael Bay’s 3D blockbuster, starring Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, drops more than 50% in ticket sales but stills holds off competition from Bridesmaids and Kung Fu Panda 2 to secure first place.

Kristen Wiig’s Bridesmaids increases its cinema takings by nearly £200,000, pushing its UK total up to an impressive £12 million.

The top four movies are unchanged from last week, with The Guard, which opened only in Ireland last Friday, is the highest new entry at number five.

Terrence Malick’s critically acclaimed Cannes Palme d’Or winner The Tree of Life debuts at six.
