While carpenters were working outside the old house Liz had just bought, she busied herself with indoor cleaning.

Liz had just finished washing the floor when one of the carpenters asked to use the bathroom.

With dismay she looked from his muddy boots to her newly scrubbed floors.

Thinking of a quick solution, Liz said "l will put down newspapers".
