British Transport Police confirmed the death

A person has died after being hit by a train in Coventry this morning (Monday).

The emergency services were called to the city's railway station shortly after 7am following the incident.

It is understood the fatal collision did not happen at the station, but on tracks nearby.

A statement from British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Coventry station at 7.07am this morning after reports of a person being struck by a train.

"Colleagues from the ambulance service also attended, however, a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are working to identify the person and inform their family.

"This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service stated that they sent one ambulance, a paramedic officer and the critical care car from the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance to the scene.

All lines between Coventry and Rugby were blocked while officers and medics were at the scene.

Services ran by Virgin Trains and London Northwestern were affected with delays and cancellations to trains at Coventry.

The lines were reopened at around 9.30am.

This is very sad and someone has lost a parent/spouse/child/sibling.

But what's with this "person" lark. Surely it is a man or a woman? More PC garbage! :fuming: :fuming: :fuming:
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

I think it's to do with not confirming any details of the victim before the family have been informed?
