The glamorous Northern Belle is Britain’s equivalent of the iconic Orient Express



Fancy a Christmas meal with a difference this year?

How about hopping on board a luxuriously restored 1930s train for a seven-course meal, fine wines and champagne?

The Northern Belle – Britain’s equivalent of the iconic Orient Express – will pull into Coventry this year before taking guests on a six-hour round trip through the wintry countryside.

Each of the vintage train's seven beautifully-detailed carriages is individually designed to whisk you back to the glamorously romantic 1930s.

And there will also be entertainment on board.

It sets off from Coventry station on Tuesday, December 18.

The interior of the Northern Belle has all been lovingly restored by some of the country's top craftspeople, including marquetry experts, muralists and mosaic artists.

Each of the seven beautifully-detailed carriages is individually designed - and even more grandly they're each named after one of Britain's well-loved castles or stately homes.

From the moment you enter you'll be spoiled with a glass of champagne.

You'll be shown to your table, which will be set in lavish style with crisp white linen, sparkling glassware and bespoke china, and have all your needs taken care of by liveried stewards.

Your seven-course Christmas lunch from a British seasonal table d’hôte menu will feature locally sourced ingredients on, and each couple will get a bottle of wine to wash it all down with.

And you'll get to finish it off with a cheeseboard featuring a selection from across Great Britain before another course of coffee, tea and petits fours.

If you need more entertainment, a magician will be on board to keep the party atmosphere going.

They will perform tricks at the tables as the train rolls along the rails.

You'll get a full afternoon on the rails on the trip.

The Northern Belle sets out from Coventry Railway Station at 11.50am on Tuesday December 18.

It is scheduled to return to Coventry at 17.45pm.
