The building was evacuated and operations were suspended until the afternoon

An incident in which two workmen were electrocuted is being investigated by health and safety officials.

Two men came into contact with high-voltage cables on the roof of a test and engineering site at Ansty Park on Wednesday, February 28.

Police, fire crews and paramedics attended the incident which occurred at the AVL Tech Centre in Coventry shortly before 10am.

The building was evacuated and operations were suspended until the afternoon.

The two men suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital where they remained on Thursday.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the government body responsible for health and safety in the workplace, confirmed that an investigation into the incident has been launched.

AVL provided CoventryLive with an update on the two men today.

A spokesperson said: "The two people are still in hospital and their health seems to be improving.

"The staff at AVL UK are thinking about the two injured men and wish them a speedy recovery."

Operations at the test centre resumed at around 5pm yesterday but one testbed remains out of use as the damaged cables still need to be repaired.

Perhaps the intrepid reporter would like to look up a definition of electrocution? :clown:
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

My thoughts as well Rebbonk but remember it is the Telegraph so don't expect reliable reporting.
